I picked up these Rugged Ridge tube doors on clearance and am mulling over trying to make some aluminum skins for them to make a half door. I saw the mesh skins but wanted something a bit more solid for highway driving.

The tubes are pretty flat on both sides so not much metalwork would be needed besides getting the template shape right. Attaching the skins is tricky, using straps like the mesh skins would probably let the metal flap in the wind and drive me nuts. Another thought was some sort of JB Weld or flexible adhesive around the perimeter to make it look seamless, then paint/powder coat the whole thing. Rivet them on?

Thoughts? Terrible idea?

Good idea, a good epoxy panel adhesive would bond and keep it from vibrating.
I had thought about using clear plastic, lexan ? ,that would give protection and visibility for trail riding. Hopefully, Spring will see these " ideas" actually happen.
