I used a drill and jigsaw to cut the center out of the stock carrier(thought it was plastic but is actually aluminum).
Then I spent a lot of time on a belt sander with a coarse belt(making a mess and a ton of silver dust) thinning it from the backside till it was about 1/8” or so thick tested the reverse camera to make sure I was happy with the view the thicker the back the camera seemed like it was in a tunnel. Mock it up on the carrier to get shape traced on it(not critical it can overhang).
A machine shop could have thinned it out on a mill or cnc in a fraction of the time(took me a few hours) either way will net the same result.
