Installed the Rubicon takeoffs springs and shocks on my 2018 JLU sport. The new rear springs numbers were 91 and 92 and the front springs were 61 and 62. Along with the springs and shocks I also installed the Mopar 2 inch lift lower control arms (82215398AB) and a Daystar 3/4 inch lift kit (DAYKJ09181BK) and cause of the problems with the track bar welds on the JL I also installed the Rusty’s front track bar mount brace (RC-TB7500-JL). Note: my jeep was not on the recall list but I installed the track bar mount due to I was under the jeep and with the springs removed it was easier to install. All the work took about 5 hours and when the work was completed I had the jeep realigned. With the new control arms the caster came in at 6. The Jeep tracks straight and steered very well. Here are the height numbers before and after the install. Before Right front 37 1/8 Left front 37 1/8 Right rear 37 1/2 Left rear 37 5/8 After Right front 39 1/4 Left front 39 1/4 Right rear 39 1/4 Left rear 39 3/8 for about 2 inches of lift. The best thing my wife says the Jeep rides a lot better. This was a good way to go for a 2 inch lift using mostly Mopar parts. $200.00 for the Rubicon takeoffs, $50.00 Daystar 3/4 lift kit, $70.00 for lower control arms and $100 for the track bar mount for a total cost of $425.00 plus $85.00 for alignment. If I did not added the track bar mount it would have cost $325.00 for a 2 inch lift. I have driven the Jeep about 2000 miles and very happy with the ride and handling. Next step is new tires and rims. Had no before picks but here are some after

I picked mine up on CL for about $120. I’m new to jeeps so didn’t realize I just needed the shocks and springs. Install was pretty easy. My buddy and I did in the garage in about 2 hours. Currently running 315/70/17. No rubbing issues once I removed those bumper pieces.

I don't know how much rake exists in a stock Sport S, but my Sahara had minimal rake prior to the Rubi suspension swap. Absolutely NO RAKE after the swap. I did however get the tallest front springs from a rubi (-60 and -62 from a hardtop steel bumper vehicle). I did use 0.5" spacers in ALL 4 corners too.

What I am saying is if you get the tallest front springs then you probably don't need front only spacers to get rid of rake - just look for the right takeoffs. Would also HIGHLY RECOMMEND Mopar Lower Control arms to minimize caster loss.
Thanks. I have 60/61 and 91/92 springs so I should be close to the max. I'll probably go with just what you did: .5" spacer all around. Mopar Lift LCAs already ordered. I'll measure before/after

I have Rubi shocks due to a great forums member and now need to order the springs. Where are you all ordering. #s appear to be
  • 68253661AC - Front Left Spring
  • 68253660AC - Front Right Spring
  • 68253591AA - Rear Left Spring
  • 68253592AA - Rear Right Spring
  • And the isolators?

I just had Rubicon take off springs and shocks, mopar lower control arms, and teraflex 1.5 in spacer leveling kit installed on my sport s. Seems to have lifted a little over 3in all the way around. Rides a good bit firmer but it drivers and tracks straight. So far I am very happy. My 35s are ordered, but not here yet, so it looks kind of funny on the stock wheels and tires.

I will get a real lift later on and move to 37s, but for now, this is perfect.

James
I'm planning on doing this as well. Do you have any pics?

I don't have any measurements...I simply forgot to do before I added the lift. In any case, I had +4 in the rear and +3 in the front for the spring part numbers. Took me about 4 hours, mainly since I was looking for destructions and to torque numbers. Plus needing some help from forum members when I was stuck. In any case, here is my sequence from bringing it home to this afternoon after adding the Rubi take-off springs and shocks. I plan an adding the Mopar lift LCA's next week.

In any case, I am pleased. She has a more proper stance for a jeep,

Any guesses on how much lift I will get? I have the oddly numbered 2018 springs (2 dr, V6, soft top, auto, tow pkg):

Stock --> Rubicon
Front Driver: 68250228AC -->68253661AC
Front Pass: 68250229AC --> 68253661AC
Rear driver: 68249109AA --> 68253591AA
Rear Pass: 68249110AA --> 68253591AA

No idea. The stock ones make no sense to me. The Rubicon ones should not be the same number on driver and passenger sides (should be one or two higher on passenger). But maybe it's the new thing for 2019?

I did the swap this weekend (JL Sport S Unlimited) from stock springs, LCA's, and shocks to JL Rubocon springs and shocks along with the aftermarket longer Mopar LCA's.

I will say none of it was terribly hard but for me it took much longer than I expected. Removing the LCA’s was a huge PITA and one of them started to strip so I will need a shop to do swap it for me.

The rear went smoothly, I would say it took me about 45 mins to an hour per rear corner but a good 2+ hours per front corner. Yes I was being meticulous and taking my time, but with jack stands and hand tools it can take awhile.

Again nothing hard about it but when people say this is a 2-3 hour job they either have a lift and power tools or an extra set of hands. Or they have done this before.

I would guess it took me a solid 7+ hours. Will post some pictures soon.

In terms of ride quality, I also added larger wheels and tires and true AT tires, but I was able to drive my Jeep on the stock suspension with the new wheels and tires prior to the Rubicon suspension upgrade:
- I really did not notice any major difference in ride quality on normal streets. Seems about the same
- I did take it up to 70+mph several times and zero death wobble
- It seems to handle some limited offroad testing really well. I would say better than stock, the suspension is very smooth over rough terrain

I am very happy I went this route for the price. The height is perfect and I like the look much better. Pics coming soon. Been raining a lot here!
