Hello all,

We are just a few weeks away from our epic trip from Maine to Utah and California but we still have one gap in our plan. Our plan was to try and run part of the Rubicon Trail on our last day (provided the snow isn’t too deep) but we don’t have a spot picked to camp yet. Rubicon Springs is likely going to be inaccessible and I’m not sure I’d want to drag our camper up there. I‘d like to find some dispersed camping but wondering if anyone can recommend a good spot near the trail. Obviously the snow is going to be crap shoot but hopefully something will be accessible in early May. Thanks in advance!

Loon lake or several of the forest roads off ice house road before you get to loon lake. I definitely wouldn't try towing anything on the trail itself. As far as tent camping on the trail, I agree buck island is the best spot.
