Rubicon Tow Hooks, Steel Bumper??

No it is not necessary, I installed my gold set without retainers.

I assume it just took a little more care when lining up?

It wasn’t bad but with them loose the hooks can get scratched where they go through the top of the bumper. Just cover them with painters tape and you’ll be fine.

Hopefully these pics help...super easy to remove tow hooks just a lot of torx bolts and 8 retainer rings per side. I will be happy to answer any questions.

So you can’t remove the tow hooks from the steel bumper until you take the bumper off first? You can’t remove them while the bumper is on?
