There's a guy on CL in my area listing 2021 JLUR shocks/springs that I think I could get for about $100. Came off a Rubicon with a hardtop. I would like to get maybe an inch of lift on my Sport JLU (Wife and kids don't want it to go much higher). I've seen several other CL and FB listings that have the other suspension parts too but for a higher price. Are the only parts I need the shocks and springs? I'm going to put a steel front bumper on eventually. My thought was put the Ruby shocks and springs on with maybe a 1/2 front spacer also to account for any sag from the steel bumper.

you are right on track. the rubi springs will net you about 1.25"-1.75" of lift from the sport height. only thing you need at the springs and socks. I did about two months after buying my sport. used it for a year and opted to do full lift with all new control arms ect. I believe the CL parts will be perfect

I saw your post and figured I should make a post. Here’s what yours will look like for reference. This is my JLU sport with a takeoff rubicon lift I purchased from this forum.

if you have any questions, I got you. Not all rubicon shocks and springs are created equal. There’s different serial numbers. I got mine from a rubicon recon, the heaviest rubicon package comes with the highest lift for a lighter JLU sport.

I put JLUR springs and shocks on my JLU Sport- I gained 1.5" front and 2" rear, so an additional 1/2" spacer front is a good idea, maybe even 3/4" if you're contemplating a steel front bumper. However as mentioned there are various springs used in the Rubicons and some will give more lift than others. I also recommend getting the Mopar lower control arms to keep the front wheel caster angle in the correct range. I installed all of this on my JLU in my garage in one day by myself.

I swapped my Sport S suspension, for a Rubicon suspension, and tires, at around 1000 miles. I've been happy with it, ever since. Make sure you have a good shop do a proper front end alignment after the swap, and have them check the torque of the parts swapped, on the front end. .
I now have 21,000 trouble free suspension miles on my swap.

This is exactly what I am contemplating right now. Rubi Recon takeoffs ($400 shipped) on my 2018 JLU Sport S and 285 70R17 KO2 on my stock rims (17 x 7.5). Any words of wisdom? Any need for the longer LCA? Is your before pic also with the same 285 70R17 tires as your after pics? Thanks.

I have Rubi wheels/tires and Rubi shocks/springs on my 2021 JLU Sport S. No problems. Speedometer is 2mph off now. Not worth the $150 that the dealership quoted me to fix that. I did put a 3/4" spacer on the front springs because I also got a steel bumper. I don't notice a difference in the ride from before I did the swap.

$400 sounds high for that set, might look a bit more and find something in the $100 to $200 range, and even luckier if there's a set that you can pick up close to you. I would strongly recommend the longer Mopar lift LCAs too. FWIW all you need are the springs and shocks, so if you're needing something shipped, just shipping those vs. the complete suspension might save you some cash too.
Here's my install thread on all that (LCAs in post #4)
