I'm thinking of color matching some suspension components/skids to the darker red that surrounds the Rubicon logos. I purchased a couple spray cans today that looked fairly similar by the cap color, but nothing even came close once sprayed.

Has anyone had any success in matching that color?

Thanks in advance!

Are you looking for spray specifically? I used the self-leveling brush on paint by G2 for my calipers. I have a picture of it directly next to my factory shocks. Since you have a Rubicon as well, it might give you an idea if the color is a close enough match. (If you specifically want spray though, I've got nothing.)

Looks great, but the "too bright" is exactly what I keep running into. I painted a skid plate today where the cap looked very similar, but the end results not so much.

I feel your pain. I am still trying to figure out what color matched the dash. I don't think any two of the reds on the Rubicon are the same.

I agree, no two reds on the Rubicon are the same :headbang:
I would be content with matching the shocks which seem like a shade darker than the calipers and maybe a couple more than my skid.

Fortunately I can't see the shocks and calipers at the same time because I might lose my mind.

You powdercoated your beadlocks, didn't you? How close was that color?

The beadlocks I purchased used since the set I really want are on back order..... Unfortunately, they are a brighter red just like the parts we have coated(slightly darker than my skids.)

The paint code for the red is PR4, flame red.

PR4 is the tow hook red known as "Flame Red". It's an old ass Chrysler color. I bought 2 cans (PR4) and used it for the grill inserts, (after a fail with what I thought was a close match that turned out orange!!)

I like what you did with the grill inserts. Is the grill easy to remove like the JK was?
