Every connector I unplug gets the dielectric grease before reconnecting it. I personally keep amazon in business with all the supplies I consume!

ANother good place is the 7 way/4way trailer connectors. I keep those packed with this grease, as they rarely get used, and I don't want them getting rusty from water collectiing. Same with my TOAD connection on the front.

Why not under warranty? I have extended warranty to cover me well beyond the standard warranty. If I feel motivated one day, I will research how to remove the connector.
The issue is on my JKU, it's a 2015 and my extended expired at 100k... I'm at 131k.

Hahah, yeah, me too. Is there a specific brand of dielectric you prefer? I have a couple of cans of it I use on the boat, but no brand loyalty or anything.

I don't know yet, do you have yours? Mine is scheduled for delivery soon in the next 1-2 weeks hopefully. Based on this (https://www.thedrive.com/news/33208...rams-can-disconnect-at-highway-speeds-lawsuit) it is affected until 2020 but this article was posted in April 2020.

I can say it's safe to assume, no, they didn't come up with a better solution.
No I don’t have mine yet and I’ve been waiting since November 2020 for mine to arrive. (Canadian order) I doubt I’ll get mine before you do, if you check on yours do post an update if they fixed it although you are right, I doubt they would

Here’s mine after 2 years and 30K miles. Clean as a whistle. Going to put dielectric grease in there, reconnect it and wrap the connector with a few wraps of electrical tape and call it a day.

Do you have an OEM steel bumper with the skid attached? I do. It keeps it from getting wet from road spray or splashes.

Di electric grease is what I use, also check, clean and re-grease once in a while. Be careful trying to water proof, you could end up trapping water or moisture inside the plug and do more damage than good.

DiElectric Grease in the fittings is all you need to do, and every oil change, check it and add a bit more.
That's what the powerwagon guys do, pack the smartbar connectors with grease. I have seen someone open the actual case itself and the gears were packed with dirt. Maybe it's sealed better now.

Yeah, that looks really good. The JK definitely looks different and isn't as heavy-duty, so maybe it's not an issue anymore. I still wouldn't take any chances. I took a picture of my connector on the swaybar itself and it's pretty much toast.

My JLU is scheduled for delivery sometime between Mar 1-15th!

Not sure if it is true, but I've heard the JL's sway bar disconnect is updated in many ways and is better sealed and overall designed than that of the JK. I replaced the whole thing on my JK last September or early October. I had repaired it before but it was a lost cause just over 140k miles.

One of the rental outfits in Moab has said it is vastly superior to the JK unit, which they had many problems with. Their JL fleet has not seen an issue.

Those are good photos. I do not see a silicon weather pack seal around the connector or inside the module. Is there no seal??

Dialectric grease is the best answer, just remember to check and refresh it every season or two
