I have been waiting a month to Order the ALP and AEK. Now that one does not have the ability to go with standard wheels I will just wait until the ordering system allows both. Probably by that time the Diesel engine may be an option and/or some reviews on the 2020 2.0 in the Rubicon will have some reviews.
Also would be nice to hear if the Steering issues has resolution for the 2020's, since on going remedial fixes have been going on since onset of JL's
Hurry up and wait! I am in no hurry or forced, based on circumstance, to order.

I don't see a conspiracy theory, I see shitty customer service that can't be assed to give us an ETA.
Agreed. They should at the very least communicate what/why these things are happening to dealers.

Plenty of people in this thread have accepted the idea that this is the result of a shortage of the standard wheels.
No one here has suggested it was a cash grab or any other conspiracy.
People are upset because they are paying more for something that would appear to cost the same for Jeep to produce. Most people seem to have preferred the standard wheels, but seem to be willing to accept the “upgrades”. They are not so excited about paying $1k for wheels they do not prefer.
Please feel free to read the rest of the thread. There are several posts mentioning things like moving overstock of the black wheels, discouraging orders of 2020 vs 2019, etc and each of those posts had several likes. That's what my reply was directed towards.

I think it is perfectly sane to be upset you can't order the standard wheels(i'm in this boat too). I just tire of the conspiracy theories around this forum.

Add me to the list of orders that wouldn't go through. I thought my dealer had placed my order on 7/31, but I was out of town on vacation and he had one question before placing the order that I didn't see the email on. He's checking to see if there's anything he can do but I already know the answer.

Extremely frustrating because I really like the stock wheels and I really, really like having my extra $995.

Please let us know what he finds out (if anything)

Update: My dealer GSM has a contact at FCA who is a supply chain manager, who has stated that the black wheels are a permanent change for all remaining MY2020 builds. The old rims will no longer be available.

If that truly is the case then they shouldn't be charging for the black wheels

That is crazy they are up charging you $995 then.. That doesn't seem right to me at all.

Then they should offer a no wheel/tire option and remove $2500 or so from the list price :)

Just my $0.02 but Jeep should pay me $995 to take their upgraded Rubicon wheels off their hands. No disrespect to anyone who bought those wheels but they are definitely not my favorite. Were I ordering a Rubi right now, I'd wait for standard wheels too.

Hi dblack,
We understand everyone's frustration with this. At this time, we have not been provided any information on this change but will continue to monitor this concern so we can provide you with updates that they may come.

I’d like to see how they are going to present this on the configurator on the website. Are they just going to charge $995 for installing wheels on your car? Or are they going to increase the base price by that amount, which is in effect what this is...

I also think that the folks at “Jeep Cares” should show they really do care and offer an explanation. Not knowing anything doesn’t cut it. It suggests quite the opposite...

Wow, I am glad that I ordered mine last year as a '19 because I prefer the stock wheels and see no purpose behind paying an extra $1k for wheels that are functionally identical to the ones that I got and they are certainly not with $1k more in looks. That is crazy.

They are really going to piss people off if they make them the new standard wheel with no upcharge when some have had to pay $995 for them and didn't want them in the first place.
Wish there a 2019 configured the way I want it within 300 miles of me, I'd love to be done with their order system nonsense.
