I can try and find my build sheet. I ordered one of the first 2018's JLUR. Every option except with a premium softtop and unpainted fenders. The MSRP was 52,xxx as I still remember.

Not crazy at all....unless they are financing them. My wife and I will be buying $170k worth of daily drivers this year, paying cash. We have been smart with money all our lives, mortgage is paid off, no debt.....why the heck not?

They are, but my dad got the gladiator 10% off invoice and the ram 2500 8% off invoice through his company so his payments are pretty small, he’s also a shark when talking about interest rates, he just runs circles around the finance dept until they give him what he wants. They did pay off their 5 year old house this year though and it’s still doubled in value even with a recent 10-15% dip in their housing market area so they’re sitting pretty.

My 392 build was roughly $84k when I built it in October 2021. I picked it up in April 2022 and the sticker was up to $89k I believe. Now it’s over $90k! Shout out to Granger Jeep in Iowa for getting me a solid deal under invoice tho!

If the powers in charge don't stop printing money, like there are no consequences, and if they keep spending the money on B.S. projects, expect much much higher prices for everything. Remember, they told us that the economy is right on track. You've got to love those that stay with a sinking ship. They somehow think the water will miraculously drain out, if they just hold fast.

That's good....anytime I have a chance to discuss a financial topic with someone under 30, I'm always advising to steer clear of most personal debt....and even trying to minimize mortgage terms. I don't need a new BMW every year, don't need every cell phone model when an iphone 7 makes calls just as good, don't need a 30 year mortgage when I can buy less house and live with some discomfort to stay within a 15 year.

Poor people are freezing to death.

Those same people are able to record it on their new iphones, upload it to the internet via high-speed connection and keep track of the hours remaining on their new Apple Watch.

Somewhere along the way, we lost the notion of priorities. Shiny rims over that month's food. Little Johnny playing travel sports while they can't afford the mortgage payment. Monthly vehicle payments for 8 years or a lease compared to driving a beater.

Consumerism and keeping up with the Jones will screw us all in the end (even if you don't partake).

Cost is the same.

your fiat money is worth less now.

you also didn’t factor in the increased interest rate. You’ll find that the same Jeep from 2020 will cost you $100-300 more a month than it did then.
Also...have you seen the prices to lease one?!? They are ridiculous!!

The escalating prices of Wranglers has less to do with inflation than supply and demand. People want these things for perceived lifestyle benefits and Stellantis knows they can charge more. . I keep thinking high prices will cause demand destruction, but that has not happened yet. The biggest threat to the Wrangler IMHO is not demand…but rather future fuel mileage standards that can’t be met by a brick on large tires…. Strange times we live in….

It isn't just Jeeps. My 2022 TRX's sticker price when I ordered was $85K. The exact same truck as a 2023 now has a sticker price of $101K

according to the build site on Jeep.com my $54,xxx [2021 JLUR] build is now $59,xxx :whew:
I've been doing this periodically myself, for the sake of curiosity. I was already on the Configurator site since I've been assisting a family member with her planned purchase of a JLU in the Spring.

A 2023 JLU Sport that is otherwise identical* to my 2021 build is $4K more costly. Yikes, indeed.

*The 7" Uconnect 4 is now standard, and replaces the 5" Uconnect 3 in my Jeep. Also, the $90 engine block heater option, which I have, is currently unavailable.

For shits and gigs I went on the build site the other day to see what my 2021 JLUR cost in 2023

according to the build site on Jeep.com my $54,xxx build is now $59,xxx :whew:

yikes....

btw, I ended up only paying about $48,xxx thanks to Kent and his 8% below invoice pricing
I paid $21,XXX for my 2003 Rubicon, with every option (no automatic), 2023 Rubicon cost (ON the NOSE). $63,000 exactly with MOST options, no dual tops or matching paint or the cold package or leather seats.
