I've gotten as good as 23mpg 2" lift/35's through the mountains here is CO. I avg 17 city. Did a long road trip through the Tx/OK panhandle to OKC and avg 16.5.. Kind of all over the place, but I would say normally day-day I get about 17mpg, mostly short trips as I only live about 7 mi from my work. last winter (stock) I would get about 16.5mpg I chaulked it up winter gas and using the HVAC more often. Another thing to consider I hardly almost never use A/C during the summer. MPG is very subjective, try adjusting your your driving habits and A/C usage. I understand (born and raised Iowan) being in the Midwest you do have to deal with the Humidity and rolling hills a lot more.

How many miles do you have? The engine may not be fully broken in yet.
That’s something I hadn’t thought much about, but I have less than 3k on the clock - Covid showed up, the outdoor parks closed and our travel plans have been decimated... maybe it’s still getting warmed up?

I have a stock Rubicon and get about 16. If I go on a trip and drive mostly highways, I can get about 20.

When I first got my Rubicon, I was getting 15 -16 mpg while learning the best gearing at different speeds. I have 37" tires / 3 inch lift / steel bumpers and a winch. Mostly city driving with some highway.
This past 6 months, I have raised the to over 19 mpg.
Remember, this vehicle is not meant for fast acceleration. That was part of my problem.
I have found shifting best at these speeds.
1st: get started and immediately go to 2nd.
2nd: 11 - 23 mph
3rd: 23 - 40mph. Be lite on the gas as you increase the mileage and should get 18- 22 mpg.
4th: 40 - 62 mph. I can get great mileage in this range... 25 - 35 mpg
I get passed through 3rd gear, but so what. As a popular sticker states..."If it was meant to go fast, it wouldn't be shaped like a brick".

I've enjoyed monitoring the mpg. I haven't had a car that shows mpg real-time on the main screen.

Stock Rubi at 29k miles, steel bumpers and using 89 octane: 18mpg in the city and 20ish on highway. Averaged 22mpg over 5 weeks in Colorado earlier this summer. I'll take that everyday when driving a box on wheels.

It's possible the engine may still be a little tight. I was seeing improvements, slight, up to around 5K.

Good to hear - I try to keep things in perspective - I do drive a streamline safe after all...

Drive very little highway, some city, majority is rural roads. I drive close to speed limit and very cautiously compared to my old vehicle. Love driving stick. The first 200 miles I was in the 17-18 range, learning shifting points.

I get 18.5 - 19 mpg suburban driving / 21-22 easily highway. I have 37s tires, steel bumpers and winch.
MPG is not really determined by the JEEP; it's dependent on the operator.
Are you optimally shifting?
Do you coast up to stop lights? I take mine out of gear and try to determine if I have to stop or will I be able to hold some speed and put in the appropriate gear as the traffic starts to move. That's part of the fun of having a manual trans.
Do you constantly tap the brakes? No vehicle gets good miles doing this.

17mpg with 37's and stock 4.10 gears. 16mpg with 5.13 gear upgrade but HUGE increase in drivability.

60k miles total, about 30k on 37s with 4.10 gears. Backhighway 55 mpg avg 16-17 mpg. 80-85 highway road trip avg 13 mpg. 75-80 mph towing ~2k lb utility trailer 9-11 mpg.

I run 3rd gear towing and 4th gear normally. Never been able to use 5th or 6th even before the 37s. Any time I try I don't see any improvement in instant mpg and ability to hold speed is difficult.

We're dealing with finger tappers in vehicles.. this is what we've devolved to.

I'll say this.. 4.10's are USELESS with 37's.. 5.13's are BARELY usable with a manual above 10k feet where I play. I thought 5.13's would be a huge difference but when you think about it, it's only a 20% increase. With the manual trans, I'd say 5.38s are in order.

I'd like to have 6.x something to be honest.
