Honestly never understood why they'd bother installing fake hood vents anyway, or why they'd position them over the damn battery. Just an all-around useless design for questionable aesthetics imo (not OP's mod, just the OEM vents in general).
It's a jeep, not an exotic car. The vents are dumb and look out of place.

There are plenty of JLs without hoodvents and they don't have hood flutter.

Water is just not an issue. The Jeep was built to deal with the elements. The motor can be basically submerged in water with no real issues-unless of course it get into the intake.

We'll agree to disagree about the Rubi hood. With very few exceptions, those that dis the Rubi hood are those without them. Then they upgrade to a Rubicon and you never hear their dissing again. Could name quite a few but I don't want to put fellow Jeepers on the spot.

And its the side fender vents that were created for the hood flutter, not the hood vents.

Metal under the vent, like the aluminum that the top of the noise damper is lined with? Guys, in the factory application of this design there is really no way for a substantial difference in heat to be vented out of these fake vent hoods, vs a sport hood.
So you agree...

Yep, the latches and side vents make the difference for flutter. The hood vents are just a design element.

The hood vents are fake just live with it and stop butchering your hood with these amateurish attempts (The raised hood hinges takes 1st place for the dumbest attempt).

Trying to make the hood vents functional makes as much sense as trying to make the wheels of the red CJ2 logos turn, on the stock Rubicon rims.

That's funny, Silver Surfer, you talk about "amateurish attempts." Jeepers are all about personalizing and modifying their Jeeps to suit their own needs. I have not seen one post where someone has butchered their hood. And again, anything you can do to dissipate heat front he engine compartment is nothing but good. My hood vents are now completely functional and the hood is not "butchered." If you don't agree with what is going on here, maybe just keep your negative opinions to yourself and join a Jeep group that does not make any modifications to their Jeeps, effectively leaving them stock like any other car on the road.
