I’m looking at these as well. I don’t wheel as much as I’d like to, but for protection/price, these look pretty good.

You got any juicy updates for us? How did they hold up?
Well I wish I did but the guy I was going with crapped out last minute. So I went to Moab instead. Still had a great time but will be doing the rubicon hopefully next year. I’ll crawl under there tomorrow and get a pic.
I have some decent videos but they are a pain to attach to this site.

Crawled under and took some pics. Haven’t been beating on it too bad. But like I say the times I have been able to tell it slides over rocks where before it would get caught up on those stupid cross member bars. Also protects the oil pan. Still happy with it. Just wanted to show my cheap eag sliders as well that have been holding up great as well. I need to repaint them soon too.

How do they install? Some engine skid plates you have to unbolt the motor mount. Others you just bolt on the frame holes. How are these?

I went with the full system last week and it was basically straight bolt-on.

On the Oil pan skid plate. Does it just bolt the the frame or do you have to loosen the motor mount bolts. A couple I have looked at, that is what you have to do, and I don't want to do that. The Quadratec doesn't, and I'm comparing with it.

No motor mounts where loosen in the installation of this kit.

That's what I'm going to get. Can't believe that Jeep didn't at least do an engine Tcase from the factory. Even as some kind of option. Of course this is the same company that doesn't sell the locker sensor by itself, and now it's having problems.

The factory T-case skid is actually pretty legit in my opinion. I’ve been through the Rubicon trail in a JKUR and now my JLUR and both factory skids held up great. The changes Jeep made to the gas tank skid (Over the JK)are excellent in my opinion. The factory fuel tank skid only had scratches on it after being dragged through the Rubicon with my whole family and 7,000 pounds on top of it. I only added the EVO, transmission/engine skid to the factory stuff.

Just installed the engine and transfer case skids today. Really very easy and seems well made, especially for the money, but the instructions have a few errors and the photos do not completely match what I see under my 6-speed.

Did a rock run last Thursday and I’m definitely glad I had this skid plate and am actually going to add a gas tank skid. If this skid weren’t there the oil pan would have taken a rock to it. It did bend a little but is still not pinching on the exhaust so all is good. The factory gas tank skid took a decent beating so I am going to add a skid there, the problem is after contacting rough country they don’t sell that skid separately for the jl. At $800 for the full skid set it seems like kind of a ripoff as they sell a gas tank skid for the jk at $179 versus the full kit (adds gas tank skid) at $800 (for jl) vs the one I got that was $400 and the only apparent difference is the gas tank skid. So why is it $400 for the jl and $179 for the jk gas tank skid from RC? Who knows but they don’t sell it ala carte anyways and weren’t overly helpful in attempting to sell me one individually, so I ordered a rubicon express one for $240 after taxes on a Labor Day sale. Hoping they match up well enough and will update this thread when it comes in and I get it on.

How do you feel about the losing the front crossmember on the rough country? Just installed mine. Seems solid but you did lose an important part.
