Hi all, wondering if I can pick the brains of some of our mechanically inclined folks about an issue I’m seeing.
New JLUR-XR, at about 700 miles (roughly a month in) I’m starting to hear a quiet rubbing noise which seems rotational, and only heard when going very slow, like rolling into the garage or coming to a stop. The other day I drove through a Christmas light display where I essentially idled through a ¼ mile lighting setup and heard it there too.
By rotational I mean it’s like a metal on metal rubbing/scraping sound, which lasts ¼ second or so and repeats until I come to a stop.
I detect no drag, I can’t hear it when i roll down the window because road noise and even tire noise on the ground drowns it out, can only hear it inside the jeep. Seems to come from drivers side, but I can’t quite tell if it’s from the front or rear end.
Seemed to start when I needed to take it out during a snow-storm. They salt and sand the roads heavily here, so it might just be sand under a brake pad or something, but I’d expect it to clear with a few heavy brake applications and an undercarriage wash, both of which I’ve done.
anyone had anything like this happen and can give me ideas of what to check? I’m not necessarily looking to run right to the dealer, but will if I can’t figure it out since this should be warrantee covered if something needs repair.
