I'm in need of extra space for family camping gear. The back seats are occupied with car seats, so that leaves little room for cooler, chairs, big ol' tent, toys, etc. Since I don't currently have a roof rack, I was thinking of running a waterproof bag directly on the roof. Anyone have any recommended solutions here? Thank you!

There are lots of roof cargo bags out there. Without a rack the straps will probably need to wrap through the windows? I haven't seen anything that attaches to the gutters.
For less than a rack you could mount a couple load bars to attach to.
How about a hitch mount carrier instead?

I've seen some that wrap through the interior and looks like Rugged Ridge has one that attaches to the gutters (although reviews on that one seem pretty bad).

If I go the load bar or even rack route, are there any specific bags folks recommend?
What's everyone's go-to family camping cargo setup? Assuming their interior is overflowing :)

(no tow package on my Jeep, so hitch mount is off the table for now)
