I read through my build sheet and found no info so I'm curious...

I have a Willys Edition and at the bottom of the rockers are what look like rock rails but they could also just be pinch weld seam trim covers.

Anyone know what's what here?

Thanks!

I don't think that is what they are designed for.

Factory "rock rails" are designed to protect the pinch seam, and lower rocker from getting scratched up when you slide on a rock. They are not designed to support the vehicle weight.
Just like skid plates. Designed to "Skid" over rock surfaces to keep you from getting hung up. Not for dropping down onto a boulder.

Factory rubicon rock rails connect to the body and not the frame. So yes they are for protection but no they will not support the weight of the Jeep, probably not even close.
I believe frame mounted rails are better for extreme rock bashing.

Mopar also has on build site Performance Heavy-Duty Rock Sliders with Step Assist.

I put those on my Build. Helps little lady get in and out.

I have the same. Will they actually support the weight of the Jeep?
They will take some pretty good abuse.. I believe there are some YouTube videos out there showing them getting bounced off some rocks. They are better than nothing but not as good as some other aftermarket stuff.
