Got the rock lights installed last night. Right now they are wired into the aux switch has anyone been able to wire into or set aux switch to follow interior dome lights so it will light up around Jeep when unlocked?

I did not know how picky the electronics were and did not want to backfeed and cause Gremlins to show up.

You could wire in a relay to the footwell lights to activate them...

It is not complicated at all.

This is how i would do it
you will have three total wires
1 Ground
1 Power from Aux Switch
1 Power tapped into the footwell light

You will need to purchase 2 diodes and place it on each of the power cables prior to them merging (NOTE DIODES ARE DIRECTIONAL AND NEED TO BE INSTALLED IN THE PROPER DIRECTION

Wire both power to power and the ground to ground on your rock lights

A diode is used to limit current in one direction. since you dont want anything funky going on with your aux/dome lights the diode will prevent it. Although i did not do this yet i have done something like this in the past where i have wired LED Lights to be used as both a brake and market light with a resistor.

Hope it helps

Have you done anything to add the dome lights yet? How did it turn out?

I am considering doing the same thing with my Jeep. Looking forward to the update and seeing where you tap into.

Dumb question time...

@thecritter...for the rock lights you ordered, where do all the wires from the individual rock lights merge? Is there a central “hub” or something that they connect to and then you run wires from that to an auxiliary switch?

@anotheraznguy...if I have 8 rock lights, does that mean I need 16 diodes?

Sorry for the dumb questions...wiring has never been my strong suit.

You should only need 1 pair of diodes or use the roadmaster wiring diode. You can wire all the positives together and then have that positive come from the diode. Then you can either ground each to nearest chassis or bundle a few grounds and then go to chassis.
