Took my first road trip in JL a couple of weeks ago. Left home on Thursday afternoon, stayed in motel in Charleston, WV. Headed over to Baileys Point Campground in Scottsville, Kentucky. Next day hit the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. Pretty cool. Headed over to Cades Cove Campground Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Scenic drives on Cades Cove Loop, Ritchie Mountain Road, Hematooga Road and Balsham Mountain Road in Cherokee, NC. At best some gravel and dirt through the mountains and forrest which was fine with me. I did find the Nemo a tunnel but did go through with all of the heavy rain and a warning from a local about flooding. Finished up with a day at Overland East in Arrington, Va. Lots of neat vehicles.
8 days, 2152 miles, averaged almost 24 mpg, which surprised me. I carried way too much stuff, but had fun, unplugged for a while, took some pics. JLu was more comfortable that I thought it as going to be. And my chipped windshield didn’t crack.
