Yup. Everyone has a story. I was picking up clients in my JK (I’m a relatively young profession... in the land of mid-tier Mercedes) and I was a bit concerned about it. The client got in and all he could talk about for 20 minutes was his grandfathers jeep in their ranch where he would go wheeling as a kid. I realized, yeah, Jeep has grown up and it’s every bit as bad ass as ever.

My first was a 1974 CJ5 with every part an option, even then people wondered why I had it rather than a car. I told them it's hard to explain.
I took them for a ride, then they understood. Jeep is something you have to do before you understand it. It is really a JEEP Thing.

It is a Jeep thing indeed. Gets in the blood. I grew up with Jeeps-first one was a ‘73 AMC Jeep Commando. Loved that rust bucket-5.0 L engine, green vinyl interior, primer gray and 33’s white white rims.

My wife and I took our Grand Cherokee on a similar adventure back in 2015. San Diego up to Mile0 of the Alaska Highway and all the way into Homer. We then took a ferry to Kodiak Island to visit some friends, and then back to the mainland to complete the roughly 130mi Denali Highway before heading back south down the Cassiar. The entire journey was about 30 days.

What a trip! This article brings back great memories and looking forward to getting my JL so we can make new ones!
