Hey folks,

First time poster here.

I am doing research for my first JL. I drove a 2019 Moab on the highway for about 4 hours last week and it wasn't a joy ride. And I know it mainly could be due to overinflated mud tires, or also potential steering issues.

However, I am very curious, does the Sahara differ in how it drives? Does the Sahara and Moab have the exact same shock absorbers for example?

What are the obvious differences that may affect pavement ride quality?

Thank you all.

The MOAB has the Rubi suspension, and a Dana 44 LSD rear end. Indeed, it also has the mudders, and most likely over inflated like all the other dealer delivered Jeeps. The Sahara should ride a bit better on pavement, (no mudders, etc).

Thanks for your reply!

Sorry for the ignorance, how does the Dana 44 LSD rear end affect the ride?

Test drive a Sahara and see how you like it. If you didn't like the MOAB you will most likely feel the same about the Sahara.

It won't. Just generally that it will help with being beefier, for the Selec-trac setup, (Plus the all-weather, AWD running, etc).

Chances are, if you tooled around in a MOAB, you had stock mudder's. Most folks who wan't a smoother ride, shy away from the mudders. Even some of the Rubi's might complain about mudder's on the the highway and the "noise". Wifey and I love 'em. That's sweet Jeep music listening to your Wrangler tires hum! :)

Just drove my fiance's moab 120 miles on the highway. The MTs are tough on the highway, I am looking at a Sahara tomorrow for a softer ride for me

The KM2s need to be closer to 35--37PSI for a better ride. My tires were a harrowing 41-42PSI on the way home from the dealership (75mi). The 75% on the highway was a nice white-knuckle drive bouncing all over the place.

They've broken in for 3000mi, and drive just fine. Still a little knobby when driving slow, but they just hum at highway speeds... Wife and I attribute it to "its a jeep". Haven't had a chance to compare with KO2s... ignorance may be bliss.

In this case it is bliss.
The KO2 are brilliant on pavement!
Stay far away from any Jeep running them.

LOL

I don't really take my jeep wheeling anywhere near enough to want to live with mud tires on 24/7 lol. More power to ya if ya do, though! I honestly figured people used them as a secondary set they switched to when it was an offroading weekend or whatever.

KO2's drive as nice as stock street tires that come with the Sahara especially at 32lbs. Also no noise at all

The stock tires on my MOAB are not that loud. If they were any quieter I would just notice more wind noise which is more annoying.

Well, it turns out I'll have a chance to compare for myself. Just struck a deal for some Rubi take-offs.

I only had 30 miles on my Rubi and put KM3's on it with 35psi it doesn't wander like it did with the ko2's a little more road noise but not much .

There is a significant difference between a moab stock M/T ride and a sahara with stock A/T. I have both in my garage.
