Update: Took it to service dept at a local dealer this am: Despite my video that clearly demonstrates the clicking clutch issue, the service department I took it to this am told me "there was no abnormal noise or operation". I asked if they in fact heard and felt the clicking and the service tech would not respond to that question - merely repeated the same phrase. It was super weird, I asked if I could sit with him and the technician who inspected to point out specifically what I captured in the video and what happens with my clutch pedal clicking and he replied that is not permitted. He then essentially escorted me out and wouldn't answer any further questions. I'm not gonna read into it - maybe they deal with people all day long who claim noises, clicks etc and have to be firm about it if the person inspecting says it's normal - so I'll just live with it.

I will say I'm not worried about fire anymore - it would be absurdly negligent to ignore if there was any real concern. Perhaps just clicks like this are things that happen in jeeps - I mean it ain't exactly a tank.
You should remove “fire risk” from your subject. It just spreads F.U.D. and Google searches will end up in this thread.

Yep you got it! you've made it quite clear that despite others thoughtfully notifying me of a possible connection to the unknown transmission fire issue, I am merely falling victim to and aiding, nay, abetting some good ol fashion fear-mongering.

Those of us with a concerned clutch on our clutch concerns are happy for you and your trouble-free first off the line clutch that you so rave about.

Warmest,

Ahh, another overreaction. I expected nothing less. Have a great weekend, bud.

careful, google searches for weed might end up in this thread now:like:
That made me laugh, thank you. I bet that away from our keyboards we’d get along just fine. Be well.

Just curious If you have tired to get into a different dealership to have this inspected? There is an official recall for the pressure plate and clutch so you know. That’s not the noise of a clutch neutral switch’s... I’m an electrician and only a relay would make a chatter of that type “electricly speaking” that shoulds like the pressure plate or through bearing is failing. I am not an expert but I’d try and have it reinspected at another dealership

Thank you maverick that’s super nice of you to comment. I have not but will definitely and I’ll post here when I do.
Incidentally I’ve heard lots more about the dealer I went to - Nissani bros here in LA and learned they are the worst of the worst. They have a variety of dealerships but known for big lawsuits and general scumbaggery. Honestly right in line with their strange non handling of this. Makes me definitely want to get a second opinion.

i'm out in the Inland empire and have been using John Elway's Jeep in Claremont for recalls and warranty work so far they have been a little slow to get the work done but they have not complained. ill be calling in today to ask about the recall and when they will have a new part number for the new clutch assembly that i dont have to really worry about.
