Thanks in advance - my first post and appreciative of this fantastic resource. You guys were hugely helpful in my search for my jeep.

About a month in on my 2020 Wrangler Unlimited Sport with a manual tranny on the 3.6 - it's amazing and I'm having a ton of fun.

I recently noticed that when I push in the clutch, neutral or between gears, there is a fast clicking noise that is mostly felt in my foot but also something I can hear. I don't know if it has been happening since the day I picked it up - I haven't driven manual trans in a decade so possibly in my excitement and getting used to it I just didn't notice - but nevertheless I notice it now and curious if anyone else has this issue and if worth getting checked out.

I have included a link to a video that might help people identify - I can hear it in the video, especially with headphones.

LINK:

Trying to figure out if this is common or if I should bring it in to service - hopefully warranty if anything serious.

Hi Luptanpitman,
I'm happy to hear that you are enjoying your new Jeep! However, I do recommend having this concern diagnosed by your dealer. If you have additional questions or would like our additional support during your service, please send our team a private message.

Do you recommend that I flatbed it to the service department or can I drive it there tomorrow? Is this a serious risk of fire?

Dude, relax. Like a handful of fires and MANY THOUSANDS on the road with no issues. There is no definitive cause or pattern. Youā€™re fine. Drive it to the dealer.

My last JK Jeep did it. There are threads on here about it. Itā€™s just the neutral safety switch. Your worst scenario if it breaks is you wonā€™t be able to start the Jeep. All that switch does is tell the computer that youā€™re stepping on the clutch so no one can start the Jeep while in gear.

Interesting - Iā€™ll see what I can find on here thx. From your recollection do you think that the clicking is normal operation or something related to the neutral safety switch is not functioning properly and therefore is causing the click?

Hi Luptan, I donā€™t think it was normal but I had that Jeep for 2 years and it clicked every time Iā€™d use the clutch. 98% of the time I have the radio or music on so I didnā€™t bother to address it. It was annoying the few times I drove and didnā€™t feel like putting on the radio. If it breaks all together you wonā€™t be able to start up. The Computer will think youā€™re not stepping on the clutch when starting.
As far as research, Iā€™m sure if you search ā€œclicking sound when stepping on the clutchā€ youā€™ll find plenty. Good luck buddy.

Luptan, I should have searched before my last response. I decided to try and found nothing. I guess Jeep maybe addressed the problem with JLā€™s. Iā€™m not crazy though. Just Google it and youā€™ll find plenty. I must have seen it in the old forums I used to use. Donā€™t leave us though, this forum is the best!

I don't think his issue is a single click, it's a repetitive clicking with the clutch depressed - two different symptoms.

Hi Luptanpitman,
Unfortunately our team is not mechanically trained, and therefore I am unable to advise you on how to transport your vehicle. I recommend calling your dealer and explaining the symptoms of your Jeep so that they may determine the best way to move forward.
If they do recommend having your vehicle towed, here is the number for roadside assistance: 800-521-2779. Please let us know if you have any additional questions in the future!

That's correct Arrowhead, - repetitive clicking when pressed all the way to the floor. Not a single click.

Update: Took it to service dept at a local dealer this am: Despite my video that clearly demonstrates the clicking clutch issue, the service department I took it to this am told me "there was no abnormal noise or operation". I asked if they in fact heard and felt the clicking and the service tech would not respond to that question - merely repeated the same phrase. It was super weird, I asked if I could sit with him and the technician who inspected to point out specifically what I captured in the video and what happens with my clutch pedal clicking and he replied that is not permitted. He then essentially escorted me out and wouldn't answer any further questions. I'm not gonna read into it - maybe they deal with people all day long who claim noises, clicks etc and have to be firm about it if the person inspecting says it's normal - so I'll just live with it.

I will say I'm not worried about fire anymore - it would be absurdly negligent to ignore if there was any real concern. Perhaps just clicks like this are things that happen in jeeps - I mean it ain't exactly a tank.
