Was looking for a way to securely mount a shovel. I wanted to keep it outside, lockable and easy to access. Came across these Rhino Rack StowIT utility holder brackets https://www.rhinorack.com/en-us/pro...cessories/stow-it-utility-holder-regular_rsit.
They work for shovels, kayak paddles, fishing rods, etc. They were expensive $100 on line, but I saved $25 with reward $$ at Moosjaw.
Bugged me I paid more for the mounts than the cost of the shovel I was trying to keep from theft ?, but it is multi-use and I'll be using it for other items above as well.
I mounted these to the side of my Expedition One Mule rack. The brackets have a raised tab on the back for mounting to Rhino rails. I ground those off to get a smooth flat surface. Painted the exposed metal and cut some rubber squares I put between the mount and the rack to keep it quiet. Came out clean and I'm happy with it.
FYI the shovel is made by Bully Tools if anyone is interested. It's between the size of a regular and mini size shovel. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IDV2GQY?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
