I posted this on the Gladiator forum, but I figured there would be more people here.

TLDR: Went in for warranty work, dealership tried to do the manual clutch recall, I said no, they said they did it anyways via software.

The Main Ask:
So, after this unknown software update (I think) for the clutch I'm assuming they did, the rev hang is horrible and my ability to rev match has been robbed from me. After blipping the throttle for a downshift (anywhere between 20-35% of the pedal travel) once or twice, the third attempt will shoot it up to about 4500-6500 rpms using the same amount of throttle input. I am at a lost as to how I can fix this and still be warranty compliant.

The software rev hang is normal for the latest software revision. You done goofed by getting the recall, you can't revert it. Finishing the recall properly won't change anything.

I thought someone mentioned a post somewhere about being able to take your PCM/BCM[ there are 2 revisions and only 1 can be "unlocked"] out and send it off to a person/shop that will flash it back to factory.

I wasn't 100% sure if they updated anything on the software side, as it was in for a steering issue caused by another dealership.

Also, it's not so much rev hang, but lack of throttle input randomly when trying to rev match to shift into gear. I'm assuming a tune will fix Jeep's spaghetti code, but I'm still in warranty.

I feel like Rev Hang changes based on usage. I can't stand rev hang, especially running high RPM's but I wonder if its just been 'reset' due to the new software and it will return to what you call normal soon enough...

I have not had clutch recalls performed. Your lack of throttle response and delayed high revs is like mine when I try to downshift and rev match without using the clutch. If I double clutch, I have good throttle response and can rev match easily.

I didn't want to voluntarily, they basically said too bad we're doing it (even though they didn't replace the clutch)

This problem occurs for me with double clutching. I'm in neutral with the clutch out when trying to rev match.

That makes sense as to why they were so adamant. I assumed it was an internal target tied to a bonus or something.

Either way, it's terrible and still persistent a month later. I went ahead and reset the gas pedal. I guess I'll have to wait until the warranty is out to address it.

I’ve had my jeep in for warranty battery work and they didn’t touch my mutiple recalls (clutch and gear position sensor) What is this “law” you speak of?

They should have brought it up. They may not have done the actual clutch install but they would have 100% done the software update. They most likely also did the visual inspection on the clutch if you have a manual.

This is not true. I wish people would stop repeating it. By default most shops will throw all your recalls onto a repair order unless you directly ask them to not do one. They aren't required by any means but it's free money.

Well if they updated your software, take it back and make them put the free clutch in as well. I don't want the software so I am not taking my Jeep back to a dealer.

The problem is, I don't want the clutch, it's terrible. I'd rather go aftermarket.

Have you tried the throttle position relearn? Helped twice so far after the dealer reflashed the Jeep.

Get in vehicle, put on seat belt, press button twice to put it into Run (no ignition / engine off). Wait for the engine light then slowly go the full range on the accelerator pedal, five seconds down, five seconds up, repeat. (Arguably one is enough). Thirty seconds seems to be too long, two seconds means it'll likely miss some of the blank spots in the sensor output (so you could get dead zones). Foot off accelerator, neutral, clutch in, hold for ignition..
