Pinging @JeepCares since I was going to PM them anyway, figured I'd post it and get some input from the forum.

With the cold weather rolling in I'm actually using my heat now. Well, while at Overland Expo East last weekend (22°F) I noticed that with the climate controls set to auto and 70°F, if I remote start the vehicle it turns on perfectly and blows a ton of warm air as expected, but when you open the door and/or start the vehicle, it doesn't. I think its coming out of the footwells, but I have to set it back to manual, crank the heat up and put it on full blast for it to do anything. Take it to the dealer I guess? Am I crazy and this is a "feature"?

Remote start when cold, will put the defrost on full blast until you open the door.

What's supposed to happen when you open the door?

Should operate at whatever settings you selected when you turned off the car.
Hello Kolmain,

The owner manual states:

Remote Start Comfort Systems — If Equipped When Remote Start is activated, the Climate Controls may activate the heated seats (if equipped) and heated steering wheel (if equipped) in temperatures below 40° F (4.4° C). These features will stay on through the duration of Remote Start or until the ignition switch is cycled to the ON/RUN position.

But Lak7 is correct, the vehicle will return to its last selected settings once someone enters the vehicle.

Thanks Lamar. It's not returning to the last selected settings, only ever does it start with the footwells on, never the normal vents. Should I bring it in for service?

This is what mine does. I typically have the climate on auto. So with remote start it will blast everything until I open the door then it will go way down. Once I push the start button (changing it from remote start to actually started) it switches to whatever my climate settings are.

This. Normal behaviour.

Thanks. I think I still have an issue then. Here's what I'm seeing:

Is that expected behavior?

Mine does the same thing. It seems for heat, auto defaults to footwell - for AC, auto defaults to the vents.

To test it, crank the heat up to hi while on auto and let it run for a bit. Then turn it back down to the 60s (while still on auto) and see if air comes out the vents.

I am really enjoying the remote start and heated steering / seats. Is there a way to change the factory setting of 40 F and raise it to 45F or so?

Nope. I brought this up with @JeepCares in another thread. Would be a useful setting to have and should be easy enough to implement by the software developers.

Hello jfutty,

Unfortunately the setting is not adjustable; 40F is the set temperature across all of our models.
