redline tuning hood struts

First off, 2 day shipping is 3-4 days, they come in a tube, instructions are mediocre at best. If you drop the clip inside the hood you will be fishing with a flexible magnet inside the hood. Oh and BTW our hoods are steel. Carbon steel. Since we are in the rv we had basic tools with us and didn't have the Milwaukee grinder to cut the computer bracket we used a hack saw eyeballing the instructions. after 3 cuts there wasn't enough clearance so the bracket came off for now until I can weld it at home. After install you have to trim the rubber hood gasket to clear the brackets by about 1-1.5''. Both struts are needed to lift the heavy ass hood. It works very well, just slightly harder to close but opens very easy. I give this product a 6 out of 10.

Many many here have the @Redline Tuning Hood Lift offering..... Most everyone has rated the offering as a 10..... You are the very first to give such a negative review..

Your giving this offering a 6 out of 10 review is absolutely laughable....

The offering is top notch to say the least and the install is easy easy.... way easy.. can't see how the install on a 392 could be that more difficult.. other 392 owner's have not complained about this install.

Yes, you can drop the metal bracket(s) down in the hole if you are not careful.... that is a problem with the installer. Not having tools at hand is also on the installer so to speak..

Mine are absolutely a 10!! Great service and a 20 minute install with absolutely no issues.

With the 392.... only when you install on a 392....... you have to trim a bracket on the passenger side, that is in the way of the install a bit....(see pic)

On the driver's side there is a washer you deal with that you don't deal with on other non-392 installs..

Not a big deal.... very easy to do but you need a grinder or a decent cutting blade....

The 392 also has a crush washer under the AC line on the drivers side that has to be removed for the hood to close without the strut rubbing on it. (not listed in the instructions either)

Indeed, that washer on the driver's side is not mentioned in the instructions.... but geeez it is not rocket science to figure out how to handle/deal with that.

Anyway, I hate to knock your review but geeeeez, a 6 out of 10....... no way... Maybe a 4 out of 10 for you the reviewer .... the installer..... that I would agree with..

Anyway, enjoy your Redline Tuning offering... I know you will! Terrific offering that you were very wise to buy...

The 392 offering is a new one... I'm sure Redline Tuning will be updating the instructions for same...

Mine have been a rock solid 10 and as far as the clip dropping off as I had read some had that issue so what I did was attached one bolt to the hood clip and peened the last few threads so it would not drop off while installing, the hood does take some force to close but it pops open very easily.

I had to remove a lot from the passenger side bracket to get it to clear. I didn't notice the head of the bolt on drivers side rubbing until I read this thread. Looks to be minimal contact so I am leaving the rubber isolation washer. It is there for a reason so I would rather not remove it.

It's like that on all installs. The rubber trim just sits on top of the bracket.

@jludave you are correct, I had to do the same. I ended up popping out the rubber and taping it back until i had the bracket installed

I ground down the screw head and left the metal grommet in place and that works as well.
