..... I expected more from a large reputable dealership.
Let me say that I totally understand (probably more than I can write) how an experience with a dealership can go south. Big differences are the why's.

If, like in my case, bad ethical behavior, then I'm all for writing up and saying what the experience was. But if an outcome wasn't to one's liking then I'd have to say then maybe the problem wasn't them, but rather my own expectations. A negative review may, I just say MAY, not be an appropriate response. Again, I'd ask myself "WHY" before posting up.

After dealing with Paul at great length earlier this year, I'm inclined to believe that perhaps things aren't as they seem. Paul is honest, he's up front, will tell you like it is, and follows the rules because it's the right thing to do. If he can do something, he will.

Maybe there was some miscommunication or what not. I don't know and I don't need to know. But what I want to stress here is that not everyone can be pleased. Someone would go insane trying to please everyone when they don't have the 1) ability and 2) the power to do that. Paul, like everyone of us, has a boss of some sort.

... My reputation speaks for itself. I'm sorry I couldn't get you to where you needed to be and wished you luck finding what you were looking for. You don't need to try to slander me and my dealership.
I can't help but try to defend Paul. Paul is amazing to deal with. He's human after all and has his limitations (professional and personal) like EVERY ONE OF US DOES!

....By the way I messaged your dealership through google reviews (again me going out of my way rather than you coming to me) offering for you guys to make it right before I posted my negative experience. The response was an automated email from you saying you'd get back to me which you didn't...
May I ask what it was you wanted them to make right? From what I see from your posting here is that they had a price, you countered, they refused. Then something about them working or it? You heard nothing (but again, the last thing I see was that they turned down your offer) so when you got ahold of him, the original price was no longer valid.

Then you tried to communicate through an automated means? You had Paul's numbers (to include his cell?). What exactly did you want? For them to counter offer your declined offer? So Paul said they'd work on it. But last was a NO on a price.

Based on what I read by you here, this seems more like an unhappy sales negotiation. The fact you didn't get what you wanted during a negotiation warrants a bad review?

As mentioned, nobody can please everyone. I stand by my words about Paul and my dealings with his dealership. Find one dealership where there are 100% happy customers. ONE! I'd bet good money there aren't any.

For anyone looking for a salesman, don't let this review and conversation thwart your efforts. Give Paul a try. He's worth the time.

Mike out! :)

If you think a price offered being turned around and increased, a day later because I didn't jump on the "sale" (there was no sale), while I was told an offer more in line with where I was at was being worked on, is acceptable customer service. Then that's you, but it sure aint me.

I reached out and spoke to whoever runs their chat line and asked to have someone reach out to me to make it right, before I put up a review, again giving them a chance to make it right. Their response was automated not my inquiry. I had already told Paul that he aught to elevate to his management that a price had been offered to me and they should honor it and I waited an additional day for him to do so.

He told me "it's a different manager on the desk". I'm a supervisor myself, if that was brought to me I would be on the phone with the customer asking what can be done to make things right. They didn't care and I've shared my experience as such.

I'm done talking about this. I've already had enough of my time wasted. I've bought a Jeep through another local dealer who was a pleasure to work with (Bud Clary in Auburn). Highly recommend working with those guys.

This is a thread to share recommended dealers and I do not recommend working with Dayne Lane.

Good Luck. Take the win from your position as that...a win. Enjoy your Jeep and the deal that got you there.

Is it common for him to take multiple days to get back to inquiries? Is he still with the dealership?
Philip is usually speedy quick so he must be super busy....He is wonderful to communicate with and has possibly the best price in the states....I didn’t end up ordering from him due to logistics with family....pets etc but would definitely order from him in the future and then enjoy the driving around the PNW.......

Recently bought a Jeep from Dwayne Lane's, Paul was my rep, and I had nothing but a great experience. I placed a Factory Order with Paul after finding him on this forum and he was straight up with me the whole time, and helped me get exactly what I wanted without any BS (all other dealers were only interested in moving existing inventory and kept giving me the run-around).

Jeep raised their prices between when my order was placed and when my vehicle was built and Paul stuck with the price he gave me at time of ordering. Not sure what happened with you but based on my experience I would 100% recommend Paul.

I’ll be adding to the recommendation list for Rob Trachtman at Tuttle Click in Irvine. Zero hassle and super professional. If you are in SoCal I definitely recommend giving him your business.

So I pulled the trigger... Twice!

First post
And got confirmation of my order today!

After months, if not years of drooling, reading many of these threads, scouring YouTube, I decided a few weeks ago that the time was right. Joined Tread Lightly. Put together my build on the Jeep website and saved that beautiful PDF. Then went about executing what I learned on these forums. Emailed my specs to several dealers in the NJ area closer to me in North Jersey as well as key dealers mentioned on these forums and highlighted on https://sites.google.com/view/wranglerdeals/home

For the dealers I did hear back from in NJ and NY, 1% Off Invoice seemed to be the norm. I expected worse in all honesty hearing some of the NJ dealer horror stories.

Leon Travis of Criswell came through with a great offer at 7% Off Invoice. (4% off Forum Discount, 2% if financing, 1% FCA Affiliate). He was very quick to offer any questions I had and within 24 hours I placed my order!

Now the waiting begins! And the planning on the route back to NJ. It definitely won't be back up 95 but probably through PA and some nice country roads!!

Contact Leon if you are in the market and want a no nonsense experience!!

Criswell Jeep May 2021 offers:

Our current Forum pricing of up to 7% below invoice will end at 9:00 PM (EST) on Monday, May 3, 2021.

Due to the current inventory shortage, we are curtailing our aggressive Forum pricing until Jeep confirms their plans for the balance of the 2021 build cycle.

In the interim we are offering the following:

2021 Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited factory orders – 3% below factory invoice (1% AR + 2% conventional financing/leasing).

Our forum pricing does not include your state and local tax, tag/title fees and dealer processing of $500.

No additional fees, equipment or accessories added to your price. Wheel locks are included at no charge (can’t change company policy but we can give them away!)

All trade-in appraisal values are guaranteed until time of delivery of your new Jeep.

Could you please explain what the tread lightly program is and what do they mean by 1% below invoice? Do they mean 1% below what the dealer paid or MSRP? If it is 1% below what dealer paid how will I know if they are telling me the truth of what they paid?

Congratulations!! I just placed an order for a Sting Gray Unlimited Willys with Leon last week (...and yes, I admit that I have contacted Jeep Chat every day since...)

I'm also in North Jersey and I tried going into a few of the local dealerships, but I was incredibly underwhelmed by the service (and pricing lol) so I decided making the trip down to Maryland would be well worth it. I've started mapping out my trip back through PA because I know if I go up 95, I'll be tempted to speed and I wanna take it easy on a brand new engine. Hopefully we're both able to take delivery by Memorial Day weekend! :)

The way I understand it is tread lightly is an affiliated organization ( which seems awesome btw and is $100 to join). Rob Trachtman did inform me that joining Tread Lightly would give an ADDITIONAL 1% off of invoice pricing. Because he and other dealers who post here already give some amount below invoice.
When we order with these dealers they give an order sheet which shows the msrp and the invoice pricing for the vehicle and all
options chosen. Then they give their price below the invoice and any fees they charge for documents. Dealers also may give additional discounts if the vehicle is financed through them.
Idk what the dealer paid for the vehicle....i think there is something called holdback but idk what that is.
If any dealer is able and willing to post here and be up front about exactly what they offer below invoice and what their fees are then that makes the whole process pleasant and less costly than other ways of doing business.
I called the dealer closest to me and asked what amount below invoice they were selling the jeeps for. I had to repeat it a few times and when they finally understood the words i was saying were “below invoice l” I was placed on hold while they went to ask.... no surprise when they came back to say “no they sold for msrp”.
The tread lightly discount becomes valid after 30 days so it’s good to join asap. I was happy to learn about it.
If you can read all 191 of these pages there is a ton of great information. Have fun. sorry about any typos......
