Anybody have this happen yet or am I just lucky? JLUS rear window defroster came unsoldered already, 4 months 2600 miles, very little off road? Rear window raised maybe dozen times at most, seems like a short life solder!!

Had it happen on my 2012 JKUS but at 50k and lots of off road!! Pain in the butt, dealer tried to re solder, crap job. Found a kit for repair with some kind of electrical epoxy compound, worked better but tricky.

Go Jeep!!!

Join the crew. They should replace your window for you under warranty. You are the fifth person to have this occur

Yes I’m dealing with the exact same problem and I’m currently waiting on my new rear windshield to come in. Same thing happened on my JK too.

And probably a whole bunch more will find out next fall when they attempt to use their rear defroster.
Yep. At least it is a well documented issue thus shouldn’t have much problems having it repaired under warranty.

Hi wolfdog,

We are terribly sorry to hear that you have this concern with your rear window defroster. Have you visited your certified Jeep dealer to have this addressed? Please message us with your VIN and mileage so that we can document this further.

Happened to mine today, have never used it unless it comes on automatically when using remote start.

Update: took mine to dealer, they had to order a replacement glass like the others here. Getting it installed on the 15th. Wonder how long this connection will last...

Took mine to the dealer and they claimed that the glass did not need to be replaced. They "reattached it" to the glass. Not sure how they did it but I will have to confirm that it works. Unless they have an adhesive that conducts electricity and it heat resistant?? They said they had "the guy" that specializes in those repairs there that day. We'll see.

Saw this on another post so maybe it is true that they do not need to replace the glass .......

They don't solder it, they actually glue it....

Jeep dealership will repair the terminal that has come loose using the Mopar® Rear Window Defogger Repair Kit. Part number: 04549275AB.

The kit contains conductive epoxy- "air curable silver coating" which they will use to fasten that terminal back to the window.

This kit can be used to quickly and easily repair rear glass heating grid lines, bus bars, terminals and pigtail wires.

The info in the post regarding the repair is spot on... however, with the JL's, FCA has been telling dealers they are to replace the rear window and not repair it. This has been reported by 3 or 4 forum member's here over the last 3 months.

Mine just came loose again. 4500 miles and my second rear glass due to same issue. Looks like Jeep will be replacing it every 2k miles until the warranty expires.
