Rear Wheel well lower pinch weld damage with aftermarket rear bumper

I am looking at changing the rear bumper out on on my JLU Sahara, this issue applies to any model. On a JK the rear fender came down lower than on the new JL’s. This opens up the possibility for rock chips on the lower quarter panel pinch weld.

I have been working on forming a plastic insert that extends off the current wheel well liner and protects the pinch weld from rock chips.

Anyone else have this concern? Or have any input as to a solution?

This looks pretty interesting, similar to rocker panel guards. That combined with a plastic guard to cover the pinch weld would be great

Maybe mask off and coat the area underneath this with pladtidip before installing it.
