Not exactly. Take the money that would pay for the overpriced OEM replacement and put it towards a better bumper. I replaced my front fascia on a Stratus coupe with a body kit front end for the same price as OEM many years ago.

lol, wut? You have no idea what you're talking about. That's why you have insurance... to compensate you for damages and diminished value. How he applies the proceeds of that compensation is up to him.

If you read the post he was responding to in the post I quoted, it was heavily implied that he would supply the insurance company a part number for an upgraded bumper, not the stock plastic that was damaged, thus "getting a nice bumper out of it".

That's insurance fraud no matter how you dress it up.

If he just took a pay out for repairs and upgraded with that money, that's another story.
