Last I checked, the Rubicon differential assembly was not available for purchase outside of a whole axle assembly. Hopefully that's changed since then, but you might want to confirm with your dealer that they've ordered the correct part.

Will do. Parts came in early and they’re taking care of it next week saying they’ll need the Jeep overnight.
Plus they are going to look at my steering pump as I did the TSB to fix that and it’s much louder than it was before.

All this is happening at 30,000 miles, go figure. Still under warranty and I got the lifetime warranty as well, but timing is interesting on these things.

If you need any assistance while working with your dealer, please send our team a private message. We would be happy to get you connected with a Case Specialist to work with you and your dealer.

Hello Everyone. After having my jeep at the dealership for over a week they decided that a new assembly is what I need. Locker modulator was getting oil on it from a worn out seam... Only way to fix it is a new axle. Sigh/
Any issues since?
I had that same "fix" done at the dealer on my 18' rubicon..

1st time: supposedly oil leaking onto the sensor
2nd time: supposedly poor/improper pin connection/contact in the harness
3rd time(jeep at the dealer again now): parts ordered to replace the front axle

34K miles, stock wheels and suspension. Although, I'm still not sure how replacing the front axle fixes the "service rear locker system" warning that I keep seeing pop up.

Jeeps in the shop getting the rear axle replaced. Guess the SA didn’t know the difference between a rear diff and a whole new rear axle...no problem, he’s taking care of things and I appreciate it.

Also, tech re-installed steering column and some other things to address my notchy steering from the previous work that was done under the steering TSB. I was able to test drive it and it felt tons better.

Here’s a pic of my new axle and the sensor/connection that causing all the issues.

This has been beaten to death on another thread as well, lots of good on it there. Be prepared for your new axles to fail as well. A LARGE percentage of these failures are due to the hall positioning sensor in the rear diff failing because it fills with gear oil.
My friend detailed a thread on how to pot that sensor yourself and avoid all of the FCA BS regarding this mess.

Yes, they are replacing entire rear axles because the $40 sensor inside is failing.

Had the same thing happen when they replaced my box... the pump got REAL loud I mean like driving in my sub division and hear it loud. They replaced the pump and it helped a lot but most people are seeing an increase in noise from the pump from the software update that accompanies the new gear box. It appears the new software drives the pumps harder and longer after the steering wheel has been moved. The suspicion is that since it is now a cast iron box it retains heat longer and more than the aluminum one so the pump is driven harder.

Oops... this is the beginning of the sensor potting thread for anyone who wants detailed instructions on how to do it yourself.

Make sure they check the torque on the drain plug for the new diff. Almost all of them come loose from the factory. I'm willing to bet that 75% of those that read this post, if you go out to your jeep and check both axle drain plugs, they'll be loose.

Ask @mgroeger what a loose drain plug will do...

Talked to Jeep cares, what a joke! Jeep can kiss my @ss! Not standing behind their products! What a joke! I’ll never buy another Jeep product! Good luck to all of you people that are having the same problem!

Wait ... are you being serious?

Why in the world would Jeep warranty your axle assembly if you've modified it? They made a mistake ordering one and was probably an oversight to begin with, but no one can expect a MFG to warranty out any modified part.

Edit: I absolutely understand that they shouldn't even be swapping out the axle assembly to begin with and just swapping the sensor, but they're not there yet.

Are you kidding me??? So you think an axle truss has anything to do with this sensor being faulty?? Do you know what an axle truss is? Heaven forbid I try to strengthen the axle for my 40s! I guess I should have bought an older out of warranty Jeep huh?

That's why people need to understand the repercussions of modifications. When you decided to weld the truss on, you voided the warranty on the axle assembly and all that goes with it. They prob could've also voided it for running 40s. If you care about the axle warranty, dont make permanent modifications like welding on a truss and dont run 40s. Sorry for your situation and best of luck figuring it out.
