Longtime reader, first time poster....recently upgraded my JKU Sahara for a JLU Sport S and loving it!

I was wondering if this was an issue or not - when starting or turning off my jeep, there will be a quick 1-2 seconds of a quick rapid clicking sound (same sound when you try to start a car and the battery is dead). When starting up, it happens when the speedometer reaches 120 mph and comes back down. Is this normal? If not, the only thing I could think of (in terms of user error) were lights I recently hooked up to the aux line. But that install was flawless and I rechecked all the connections. Should I worry about this/take it in to the dealership? I only recently noticed it so I'm not sure if it was always there or not. Thanks in advance!

Anyone? It seems to only happen when I push the start button to "run" and not actually when I hold it down from cold to start the car (I have an MT).

Update: So I went to the dealership yesterday and asked them specifically about this sound (amongst other issues), and they said this is a normal oddity for manual JLs. So there it is - one less thing to worry about.

I have the rapid clicking at almost every start now. Itā€™s like the starter doesnā€™t have enough juice to turn the engine over. Jeep is one week old with 275 miles. As soon as the clicking starts, I push the button again to stop then another push and it starts right up. Looks like itā€™s headed to the dealer. Hope itā€™s something easy like a battery as Iā€™ve tried the obvious like, hard break pressure, long push of start button, short push of the start button. No warning message, no other symptoms, Jeep runs 100% except this.

Anyone else?

Hmm yeah that seems to a little different from my situation. Did you check the fuse box to make sure they're all seated properly? Not sure if that's going to help any but it'd be good to do regardless (considering basically everyone that's checked has had like a dozen that weren't fully seated). Keep us posted on what your dealership says.

Hi COBoarder,
This does not seem ideal. We regret to hear of these concerns and would be more than happy to offer an additional layer of assistance while you are working with your dealer on this. If this is something that interests you, please feel free to send our team a private message.

I have the manual and I have never had any clicking like you guys have described. Before taking it to the dealership, I would insure all battery connections are tight. Also, remove the cover of the PDC box (just behind the battery) and you will see a strip of posts - each with a 10mm nut. Make sure all of these are tight.

I've only had my manual for 2 and a half weeks but I've never experienced this.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just noticed sound for the first time today. Did anyone ever find a cause? (I have an 18 JLUS manual).
