Your math is just a bit off. Buying the 4xe to save on fuel costs is very much a valid reason.
Yeah, 95% of our 4xe use in in electric mode, even at 25 miles per charge, that puts us at ~50MPG cost equivalence based on our ~$0.11 kWh electricity rate. We get really close to 30 when it's hot outside, appears to be more in the low 20s during the couple of cold snaps we had.

At any rate, yes, range takes a hit from cold, both from the battery system, but I'd also encourage people to check their tire pressures, that can definitely knock off a few miles.

A 5lb change in our Tesla M3P tire pressure improved mileage on a 130 mile trip almost 20 miles (vs. previous trips with almost identical cargo and hot outside temps).
