I received my Quake LED Halos yesterday after months of way too hours of late night forum/Facebook research. I haven’t seen a write up yet so here it goes. I’m not a photographer nor am I a writer. But here’s what I’ve got for you. :jk::rock:

I was very impressed with the lights themselves overall. Heavy duty aluminum construction and look well made with heat shrink and direct plug ins to the factory harness and RGBS. The packaging and instructions were legit too. Very well boxed and full color pictures. The hardest part of the install was the grill removal. I took a chunk out of my hand when the grill finally released into the bumper so ya. But enough of my issues. To remove pop out the body clips with a screw driver and pull at the bottom of the grill till the clips release out of the radiator support.

Next the headlights. I just used a screw gun and 10 mil socket to remove.

On a side note if you haven’t bought your JL yet get the trailer package. I’m kicking myself for not. I thought it’s a hitch an I’ll just get a rear aftermarket bumper. No need for that. Come to find out I could have just plugged the power wire in those pimp prewired switches that come with the trailer package. But I wired mine to the fuse box F45, power cargo fuse. Next was the turns. I was scared to do this but ended up being simple. I used the 10 mil. Gun again and took off the little black fuse box on driver side and connected the T-Tap on the white and tan on the driver. Passenger side I took off the 2 ground wires blocking the turn harness and then tapped into the white with green stripe. Ran the yellow and blue wires to them off the control box and put it all back together. Install the ground wire for the controller too. I had to go back and take the nut off and do it later. The turns took about 20 minutes to do so in the long run I’m glad I did.

On to running RGB wires. I stuck the controller on top of the fender with the supplied 3M tape. Used the 10 min to take out an air box bolt to run them underneath it to make it look clean. Then ran 2 wires to the passenger side for the fog light and headlight then underneath the plastic should on top of the radiator support to the driver lights. I plugged in the RGBs to the headlights plugged the headlights into the factory harness and screwed the headlights in.

Fog lights... They came with different brackets to fit all the models. Mines a factory Steel Rubicon bumper (for now, Road Armor and Warn winch on order). I bolted on the Rubi brackets plugged the lights into the harness and the RGB wire. Ten minutes!

All done put the grill in and hook the battery back up and only 3 RGBs passenger headlight wasn’t working. Pissed off I called Rob at Quake, a guy on this forum I’ve been corresponding with about lights. Arrow to Arrow! I had to take the grill off and the light back out. I screwed it together wrong. Next I downloaded the App off the QR code (had to download QR reader App never heard of that?!) Couldn’t get the App to work. after calling Rob again he walked me through it. Ended up having to restart my phone.

All done after 1.5 hours, half that on the phone with Quake for my dumb mistakes. These pix are in my garage with the garage door down so I could make it dark. And pix are with my cell.

Too bad that these will be illegal to run on most public roads. They look cool.

You replaced OEM LED lights with aftermarket ones? Ballsy. Curious to see the OEM vs these beam pattern as well as LUX readings...my guess, these will not be as good as OEM.
I will take some pix tonight. I took some Sunday of before. My brother has Quake halos and some of their other lights in his JK and I loved them on our last trip to Moab. They had a longer range than my JL, great pattern and I really wanted the color effects.

Great review - can you also post some day time pics of the halos on? Curious to see if they are visible during the day too

Everything I have seen on their lights have shown exactly the opposite, but curious to see your photos, ideally, against a wall from 20' away.

Mine shipped today and I am really anxious to get them. Great writeup and I appreciate you taking the time to post all these details! Would love to see some pics with the headlight low and high beams on. Again, great post!

I wouldn't use the word "Illegal" You can very easily in one second change the halo to White or Amber which is legal in every state.

That being said If you have a white Bronco and you were flashing Red and Blue Halos down the highway i would certainly say you would have a OJ situation on your hands. The color is for offroad - parking lot use. Some states allow it onroad excluding Red or Blue but you would have to check your state laws on what is allowed in your area in regards to color. The Quake HD RGB Halos are a ton of fun. I turn them on in the parking lot before i roll into my local watering hole and there is someone always standing outside looking at them when i return. Made for some good conversations.
