I haven't seen many pics of the Quadratec Morphic rims. These are clones of the oem base Rubicon, Islander, and Willys rims. I love my Rubicon rims and wanted to keep the same look, but have a better offset and width. I was willing to gamble on the 5.2 backspacing because 1) I love the look 2) I have 1.5" wider Rubicon axles 3) I was going with KM3s one of the smaller 37" MTs. I haven't been offroad yet, so I don't know if I will need 2 or 3 inches of bump stop spacing.

Wheel Stats from Quadratec:
  • Color: Black or Machined or Gunmetal Grey
  • Size: 17x8.5
  • Backspacing: 5.2
  • Offset: + 10mm
  • Wheel Diameter: 17
  • Wheel Width: 8.5
  • Weight: 26.4 (measured by me)
My Setup:
  • Lift: Synergy 2 Inch Lift Stage 1, adjustable track bars front and rear
  • Shocks: Fox 2.0
  • Tires: 37x12.5r17 KM3, measured at 35.75" at 31 psi
  • Carrier: Teraflex Alpha - Required top adjustment hole due to steel bumper group

Have you had this set-up offroad? I am looking at almost the same set-up and want to make sure there is no rubbing. Thanks for the pics, it looks great.

I have not been off-road yet. With baseball season over, my Saturdays just opened up, so I hope I have a chance soon.

Beautiful setup. I'm a little bit surprised that a 4" difference in diameter between tires looks so insignificant, granted the 37s are under load but still... maybe it's the angle of the photo? I was worried about the backspacing of the Morphic wheels but they seem to clear just fine. Thanks for sharing the photos!

@Sting Ray Rubi

Okay, so I've been off-roading twice now with this setup. First trail was Red Cone Pass in Colorado. I had a fair amount of rubbing in the rear, this was with unmodified inner fenders. And predominantly on the passenger side.

Upon returning home, I removed the lower plastic fender cover (the one that attaches to the rear bumper bracket). And I used a heat gun to mold the main fender liner to be closer to the pinch seam in the back portion. I also measured and adjusted the trackbar to center the axle.

This past weekend I was up at Rausch creek running blues and blacks with the local jeep club. I didn't notice any rubbing front or rear while doing the trails. And while it looks pretty close, I didn't hear any rubbing on the RTI ramp. I didn't have a tape measure with me, so I don't know my score.

Overall, I am very happy with my setup.

Looks good. I went with a similar sized and offset wheel but got 315/70/17 KM3s. Thought they would be over 34" but unmounted they barely measure 33".

Oh well, on the plus side I am pretty sure I will not need to worry about rubbing of any kind on my stock Rubicon.

Thanks for all the great info. How much front and rear bump stop are you running?

They pretty much nailed it with the 5.2 backspace. You get plenty of clearance for suspension components, but also get better steering and better load on the bearings due to the positive offset.

Keep an eye out for early signs of suspension wear which could lead to things like death wobble. I could not help but notice the stock tie-rod and I am assuming that you have the stock draglink and balljoints too. Good job replacing the trackbar which is usually the primary cause of deathwobble.
