@RussJeep1

TazerJL lets you enable b/u camera so it will stay on until you press the X to turn it off.

TazerJL's upcoming / new firmware will also allow you to also enable b/u camera on, with turn single.

Question:

OK--total first world problem.

I have the MOPAR side steps and scuffed one a bit. It's a little white from scuff for a few inches.

Yeah, I know, the rig is going to get it's share of blemishes especially if taken off road, but does anyone have ideas on how to lessen that scuff's appearance?

Armor All helps a tad. 303 Formula?

Thanks.

Does the alpine sound system eat into trunk space?
@Simulacra

I would say no it does not BUT ...

With the Alpine system .... On a JLU (4 dr.) you have a large speaker mounted flush on the right side. On the JL (2 dr.) you have a speaker mounted in a cubby space on the floor of the rear storage area. In neither case does the flush mounted speaker "eat into trunk space".

Do know that if you block a speaker it can impact the sound that the Alpine system provides. It may be a minimal impact but..

Also, you do have to take minimal care not to damage the speaker screen/covering when packing in stuff in the back of the JL/JLU. The speaker grills / covers are very very sturdy though.

As for me I have a 2 dr., and often pack lots in the back.. to include totes weighing 60-70 lbs. I also always have moving pads placed on top of the rear floor mounted speaker to protect the speaker and the rear rug. I myself do not hear any degradation in sound quality while listening to music, but undoubtedly there is some.

Can tell you that the Alpine System is a real nice addition to the JL/JLU.

Randomly I’ve been getting a single beep on startup of my JLU Sahara, sounds like an alert but I’m getting no error messages, cannot figure it out. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi NorCalSahara,
I see that you are reaching out to the forum community for input at the moment. If you decide to have your dealer look into this, you can send us a message as well if you'd like an added layer of assistance while your Jeep is at the dealer.

Hey crew. Quick question for expectation management / rage control. If you took your new JL in for one of your first services that come with your Jeep Wave program, would you expect when they do the tire rotation to rotate the new spare into the rotation and not leave it on as the spare? (asking for a friend, before he calls the service center and complains).

I would expect them to perform a 5 tire rotation. And now, I'll be watching them do it :giggle:

I believe most do not include the spare. Specifically ask them for the 5 tire rotation.

Every time I took my JK in for tire rotation, I left them the picture above on the seat of the 5 tire rotation @vonbek posted. Most don't ask for it as I see a whole bunch of Jeeps with brand new spares hanging on the back.

What's about the ideal pressure for the stock JL Sahara tires that optimizes gas mileage without compromising handling or safety?

Thanks! This was in fact the case. My dealer in particular will do the 5 tire rotation if you specifically ask for it AND for a small fee. Unknown what the fee is, as my question above was post service and I have not gone back yet.

This is a picture of the two nuts/washer combos that secure the driver's side hood latch catch to the outside of the hood on my Sahara. For the life of me, I cannot determine their part numbers. Might you be able to help me?

It's not that I didn't try here first:

https://www.factorymoparparts.com/a...-gas-engine/body-cat/hood-and-components-scat

but it wasn't useful.

That said, does anyone know where can one go online, if at all, as a consumer, for such information?

Thanks.

A separate question.

Suppose you wanted to run two wires (positive and negative), each about 3/8" in thickness including insulation, from the main battery to the top of the "B" pillar. Assume I've gotten the wires into the cabin using this method consistent with the after factory 7-pin rear hitch harness install.(unless you know an easier way to bring 50 amps into the cabin)

(I don't have aux switches)

Once in the cabin, what do think might be the best way to snake the two wires: below the front seat floorboards?... or maybe first sending the wires up, and then back?...or aybe given their thickness, snaking one wire along the passenger's side and one along the driver's side?

For the terminally curious, I've been trying to make a DIY power soft top--at least to Sunrider position and back

https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/diy-power-soft-top.13374/#post-326874

(If this project "crashes and burns": so be it.)

Both hand winches I've installed on top of the "B" pillar were too tall to not make an imprint on the closed soft top. And only the one with a worm drive allowed it to be spun with a power drill given its 40:1 gear ratio.

So I've switched to a modified power winch (long story) and need electric to make it work.

Thank you .

Thinking about getting a Jeep Sahara Unlimited that will serve family and fun duties. I'm having a hard time contextualizing the amount of trunk space - anyone have photos of the trunk with luggage in it to get a sense of space? (rear seats up please)
