Glad it worked out. My Smittybilt winch bolted right up. Used the slotted set oh holes.
I’m taking mine back off to wire up the winch and put the factory fog lights in.
What else are you planning on doing. I have the Jeep gas cap, interior rocker panel covers that say WRANGLER and some cheap LED Back up lights that go near the muffler.

I am concerned of Jeep's marginal safety ranking in front and side collisions. Does adding steel bumpers on the front and rear enhance coverage in a collision and crash? Obviously bumper will not play a role in a side crash but what about a hit to the edge where there is bumper?

Let's remove the winch and rock crawling use case and just talk about safety in an accident.

Mine is a loaded up Rubicon Diesel. LED light group, stitched leather seats, towing package, all the bells and whistles. Not planning on adding much in general.
Need to add a base plate for towing it, install the tail light wiring kit bought, and figure out the braking system I want to install.
As far as the front, I pulled the bumper back off. Put the factory fog light in, put the factory tow hooks in, wired the winch and mounted the control box behind the bumper on the passenger side frame rail. I also cut the slot and drilled the holes in the plastic fairlead cover, and mounted the aluminum fairlead over it, to cover those ugly slots!
Still need to put the synthetic line on.

On the safety question, these Jeeps don’t do well in frontal corners tests, no matter which bumper you have. It would seem that all steel would be better than plastic and steel.

I doubt it would enhance, or decrease the safety for an actual crash. If safety is a big concern for you it might be worth it to look at some different vehicles instead tbh.

I like the fact that it hides the winch in he bumper instead of being fully exposed.

Added a “5-minute” DIY line cover. Had some left over Kydex I had. Cut to fit and it just clips into place.
