You're saying that people just wake up one morning and decide to randomly make up complaints about issues they are actually not having with their vehicles? That's weird behavior.
How much of that statement applies to this forum?

Its not limited to owners

I guess that's what they get for trying to make a Jeep Wrangler from scratch, and trying to add all of the things that you need to pay extra for on a Wrangler, to be standard on a Bronco. Maybe that's why Jeep hasn't made them standard parts in the last 70 years, probably because they figured this out already, whereas Ford is new to the game.

🤔

That's why I always say, never buy a new vehicle or a new idea until it's been proven for a couple years. Engineers always have cool ideas, and they don't always pan out over time.

Like I don't see people on this forum adding extra weatherstripping and other nonsense because their Wrangler makes too much wind noise. It's just tiresome. And we know how much C&D or MT loves American cars anyway. They denigrate them every chance they get for anything they can.

Do they have a V6 on the 2025 4Runners? I thought they were doing away with the V6.

Whatever the biggest non hybrid engine they are offering when we go for our 4Runner Trail Hunter, is what we'll end up getting hopefully. :fingerscrossed:
“Yes, the V6 has been killed/euthanized/murdered. Instead, like the Tacoma, the 4-Runner will now be powered by a turbocharged 2.4 Liter 4 rated at 278 Hp and 317 Lb Ft of torque. The upgrade from there will be adding a hybrid system to the mix to thump output to 326 HP and 426 Lb Ft of peak grunt”

4 banger or hybrid if you want more power. Sounds kinda familiar.

Ford gets credit for holding out, V8’s still available, superchargers available, different levels of other ICE power also available. Factory tunes available
So, a little wind noise bothers a Jeeper ?

oh yeah- “Trailhunter and TRD Pro versions knocking on $70,000. Official pricing will come at a later date”
Hell, that’s knocking on the Braptor price, including the $825- 455 Hp, 536 Lb Ft tune… well only another $20K, but the Heritage starts at ~ $48.5K, 2.7 tune available.

My 4R was reliable with only a few problems in 210K mi/16 years. It’s reliability comparable to my Maytag appliances, similar in other ways too, but at least it had a V8.

Granted a majority of Bronco buyers compain8ng probably came from more civilized vehicles, RAV4 etc but that's why I mentioned Greg's wife spend some time in one because she's coming from a Subaru and isn't going to wheel the Bronco.
Cmon man, they use sound meters to measure interior noise and Bronco measurement was about the same as Wrangler, 73db. Is it news that these vehicles are loud?
C&D has gushed about the Bronco since it's debut and has made their top 10 truck list every year. Stop it.

Small tip: don't get any vehicle in blue (at least not dark blue). My dad used to be a car salesman and the color was referred to as "Loser Blue" because blue vehicles are impossible to resell. Safest colors are obviously red, white, black, & silver.

loser blue

My Jeep is blue 😮

There is a lot of talk here by members getting rid of new vehicles after a year or two. That's not against the law, but it's a pathway to never being able to retire.

On the subject of wind noise, a 13" radio antenna for about $25 helps a lot. Otherwise drive slower and enjoy the scenery.

Yesterday I took a cheap moving blanket and put it between the roll bar and the soft top as an experiment.

It lowered the noise by about 7-8 dB to 65-67 dB as measured by a sound level meter app (designed by a hearing aid company).

My wife and I are going to be buying a house in 2026, and the plan was to sell her Subaru Forester Sport after we get a house and pick up one of the new 4Runner Trail Hunter's as our new family vehicle.

Every time a Bronco drives past us on the roadways, my wife always says how pretty they are and how much she likes them. I've explained to her extensively all the things that are wrong with them, and how I wouldn't keep one more than 3 years max.

But I do love my wife, and I like seeing her happy, so my question is if when we trade in the Subaru Forester, if we were to purchase a new Bronco with the intent to keep it for 2 years, and then trade it in for another vehicle (maybe a 4Runner at that point), what would be the best way to make sure we get the most money back when we trade in the Bronco?

Also is that something where you would want to pay for it in cash to make sure there's no interest charges?

This probably applies to all vehicles, but what packages, which trims, and which modifications will have the most value staying power when trading in a vehicle?

Ps. I haven't actually run this by my wife yet, I'm just kicking around the idea trying to see if it's a viable idea before I bring it up to her.
I know nothing about Broncos, but my wife thought the Earl Jeep looked cool. I went to the dealer with an idea of what she liked. Took a test drive and met her with the surprise. She really liked it, so I bought it for her. I did not get a loan for it and later found out it may have been a mistake for my credit. Then I purchased a 392 for me (her fault as I fell in love with the SOT!) and decided to finance it. I guess I really don't understand credit as my credit score went up by getting a loan.

Bottom line, don't worry about resale as it is a losing proposition. Get her what she likes most for the happiest wife. My wife raves to everyone about her new Sahara.

You know driving back from harbor freight earlier today, I was kind of kicking around the idea of making a YouTube short about how noisy my Jeep is.

Maybe something I'll do tomorrow.

I mean it's pretty obnoxious! With the windows down, you can't even have a conversation without having to yell and repeat yourself multiple times. With the windows closed it's a lot more bearable, but you still have to speak clearly and loudly. Even in my case where I don't have a back window yet, once I get it back window, I don't think it's going to make a huge enough difference to matter. You're still going to have to yell if you're talking to people in my eventual backseat. Though maybe a little bit better because my next set of tires won't be MTs, but I will be getting some RTs, so a little bit better tread in the center with the aggressive stuff still on the outside for when I off-road.

I don't think there's any vehicles designed to go off-roading that are quiet. I mean I've written in a Toyota Tacoma with big 37-in a/t tires, and it's still noisy as hell!

I completely agree!

By the way that's how credit works, you need to be always in debt, and pending how you pay it off, will depend what kind of increase you'll be getting. If you're trying to get a higher credit limit on your credit card. I don't know what's a lot of money to you, but save $10,000 let's say, and then spend $9,000 on your credit card, and pay it off in the first month. Basically when the banks aren't getting any interest money from you and you're spending large amounts of money and then paying off immediately, they give you a larger limit, with hopes that you'll put more than you can pay off in one month. That's worked pretty well for me.

The other side of it is put somewhere between 20% and 30% of your credit limit on your credit card, and pay it off over a 5 to 8 month time frame. Even if you can pay it off all at once, don't. If you do that, it will raise your credit score. Do that for like 5 or 10 years and you'll probably have over an 800 score if you don't already.

At least that's what I learned over the last 10 years of credit card usage.

I've always wanted to put that styrofoam with the shiny side down in my Jeep when I had the soft top. Partially to see if that Styrofoam insulation stuff would help with dampening sound, and also because with the shiny side down in the winter, I feel like it would lose less heat through the roof.

Sadly I never got a chance to try it before I traded my soft top for a hardtop.

Case you're not sure what I'm talking about, here's a link:

I don't disagree. That's kind of why this thread is here. Trying to see if it makes sense before I even bring it up to the Mrs.

I've always owned vehicles until they die, so I don't really know much about trade-ins and such and used vehicle value short term.

Only vehicle I'd ever owned and sold was my 2017 Patriot, and I had that for about 5 years before I sold it. Realistically speaking I only lost about $5,000 when I sold it, even though I put 40,000 mi on it.
Do you plan on putting anything down on the Bronco? Trade in value? If not, go with a lease because you won't even pay off the depreciation on it in the first 2 years, and you'll be upsidedown in value, which is a miserable hole to get stuck in, and trying to pay extra just to get ahead of the depreciation.

If you do plan on putting money down or paying it off early, avoid the lease as you'll never own it, and most lease contracts have a max annual mileage and penalties for exceeding that.

The benefit to a lease is a lower monthly payment, presuming you have the 700+ credit score for it, and you can trade it at the end of the lease or buy out the lease at the end of the contract term if you wish to own that vehicle outright in the unlikely event you still love it.

I forget which page I set it on, but at this point we're not going to get a Bronco. I ran it by the wife and she just wants to wait out and get her 4Runner after I pay off my Jeep. Which realistically will probably be another 2 and 1/2 years.
