Ah, yes that should work.
build date? Is this an early 18?
This is on a 2020 Sahara. The Programing has not been an issue as far as I can tell I can turn it on and off from the radio and that turns off the fob from flashing but the flash on the fob is all I get when I grab the handle or push the button

Yes ok definitely should be working on a 20 Sahara. Does sound like a hardware issue.

The harness and cap both seem good not sure if I can test the handle but that seems to be the part that is the most complex. Figured what the heck ordered another set of parts and will see if that helps otherwise I’ll have a tailgate set for sale at some point.

This is not going to help you much but I can confirm that this install worked flawlessly on my 2020 Sahara (enabled via JSCAN). I did the ecu reset twice in a row before shutting the car down. Everything worked as expected.

Thanks :), that is what makes this so frustrating, since it should have been “plug & play” for the most part. I ordered some new parts to at least rule out something not working and hopefully that may work.

Maybe if someone local to you with the proximity lock can swap the door handle and magnetic cap and see if it's the hardware. If I have to guess, it might be the cap. Make sure you confirm they sent you the right cap.

Just an open question for you guys. After you successfully installed the new harnesses and got everything to work, what do you do with the old harnesses? Was wondering if the old harnesses will work on JL Sport owners with manual locks and power windows that wants to upgrade to power. My harness came off of my 2020 Sahara.

For me space is vital as I live in a condo so I can't continue to collect random stuff. Also would hate to throw it away. Wondering if there is a market for this. (not looking for money but to help someone out).

@AllMoparParts.com came through once again! I received the complete kit within a week of ordering. I must have just hit them at the right time. Everything was packaged up nicely. I completed the two front doors in about an hour tonight. The second door goes much faster. I have yet to do the tailgate as it got to late. I am thinking about waiting on the tailgate until I get the trailgater in a few weeks so I am only breaking back into it once.

Did he make a special number or did he just price it together? My dealership parts guy was confused by it lol

As stated in previous thread you want to make sure you already have the antennas needed. Sahara and Rubicon are supposed to already have them if you have keyless entry w/ push to start.

This is what I did along with the videos and resources I used.

Step 1 - swap handles
(Parts Needed: Torx T20)

Follow this video:

rear swing gate has a grommet that needs to be removed to access the T20 screw holding the cap.

Step 2 - remove door panels.
(Tools needed: Torx T20, Torx T30 & plastic pry tool)

Follow this video to remove the panel

Step 3 - remove inner door card
(Tools needed: 10mm socket)

PDF
http://www.myjlproject.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Inner-Door-Plate-Removal.pdf

Remove 9 bolts around perimeter of the plate.

(Pic of all bolts and wires removed)

Roll the window down till you see the bolts holding the window. Remove bolts holding window and tape window up to keep it out of the way.

Once you have the window up you need to carefully pull the inner card back enough to get to the wire to the door lock and handle. This is the hardest part, you have to lift up slightly to get the bottom out first. You then have to pull down and twist just enough to clear the power window track and actuator.

(Tried to get a pic of the track you need to maneuver out)

Once you have the card pulled back enough remove and replace the door harness. This part is pretty self explanatory. Just make sure when you add the handle pigtail it is out of the way of the window path.

Step 4 - put everything back together

Step 5 - rear swing gate jumper
(Tools needed: Plastic pry tool)

Using a pry tool firmly pull the plastic panel off on the rear swing gate

(Pics borrowed from fellow members)

Step 6 - replace power lock harness with new jumper

Step 7 - put plastic panel back on

Step 8 - go to dealer and have them add sales code GXD and program vehicle

So if my Sahara did not come with remote start I would need the antennas as well? I did have the remote start installed at the dealer.

I think if you have keyless entry the antennas should be installed. Don’t think remote start adds them alone.

So I completed the installation on the driver side door tonight. And in an abundance of caution, decided to test the windows and power locks before moving onto the passenger door and tailgate.

The windows work just fine, but now power lock and mirrors are OUT across the entire jeep! Key fob still works, though, for both lock and unlock.

Is this normal when you only have one door set up for proximity, but not the others?

FYI -- I did try reseating all cables and tried swapping out handles and caps (didn't swap out wire harness yet).

Thanks for any advice!

I don't think so.. I only did my rear so far and everything works. From what I have read others have only done the drivers door as well and did not see this reported. Maybe try to put the old harness back and recheck or check fuses?

I plan to do my drivers door next once my parts arrive also while still waiting on the passenger.
