Since the Trail Rail management system hasn’t been released yet...I know I can get the pieces separately...I thought I’d try to custom build a bike mount in the Jeep.
My requirement was to be able to keep the bike inside the Jeep versus using a hitch rack. I’ve lived in Colorado and have heard of many people getting their “locked” racks and bikes stolen off their vehicle in a matter of minutes in broad daylight in an REI parking lot. Plus I typically only carry one bike and meet up with my riding group at the trail.
By keeping it inside I don’t have to worry about a $400 hitch rack being stolen or my bike being stolen when we’re at the brewery post ride.
When the trail rail system comes out I should be able to mount a similar bar across it that holds my fork mount. This way it’ll be quickly removable. Right now I used a piece of wood that is bolted down using the cargo net hooks.
Let me know if anyone has any similar setups or suggestions. Thx
