I really don't find this new top to be much easier. All in all it really sucks... It's hideously ugly, still pretty cumbersome to put up and down, water still dumps in the front doors when raining and it doesn't lay flat when down.

I'd buy something like the old JK top in a heartbeat if someone made one! bestop, quadratec, Smittybilt should get on that!
Other than the tracks I agree. I like how one person can stand at the back of the Jeep and go from sun-rider position to fully lowered and back with ease.
I would have kept the zippers for the windows, it really was not that hard, and added the track for putting the top up and down.

I do like how the side windows attached to the door frame but that could still be done with zippers.

I wonder how many times you will be able to slide the windows in and out of those plastic slots before that is all destroyed.

^ exactly... If you don't line it up perfectly it slides out of the plastic slot. Seems like one little kink or crease would make it impossible to reinstall the window

I have already messed up the belt line plastic on the drivers side window a little. I was trying to snap the corner in and did not realize the the bottom was half in half out of the track. It cut a small notch in it.

Late 2018 here no flap issue but do have the ripple in the back window.

And yes, unlike previous models, the back windows are either all in or all out. Wind will push the side ones out when the back one is removed, so forget anything you know about how you like to ventilate or carry large items in the back. Top may be easier but the simple act of rolling up the back window for airflow is gone.

It's really a small problem but I was wondering if anyone else has an issue with the little flap on the rear window. Mine won't stay shut. Otherwise I like the top a lot. I've had the top on the Jeep for about a month now and it's definitely all stretched properly. Everything opens and closes great but this little flap drives me nuts. I close it, I drive the Jeep somewhere and then I find it open when I get to my destination. Both sides do this. Anyone else? Happy Easter everyone.

Same here. I traded my soft top for a hard top and problem is gone :)

Okay, Okay, it was a joke, but yeah that did bother me when I had it.

Lydia, I have done this and Jeep Wave specialist Emily is assigned to this, case # 58427068. Dealer has verified the problem and is communicating with Emily on authorization to replace the panel with the 2019 redesigned version.

Jeep Wave specialist Emily is assigned to this. My case # is 58427068. Anyone that needs to have this same problem fixed please note there is no TSB and no recall. When you call Wave you must ask for them to start a new case for you and get a new case # generated (if you want to tell the rep my case # for informational purposes only to assist but make sure they donā€™t document in my case). Dealer has verified the problem and is communicating with Emily on authorization to replace the panel with the 2019 redesigned version. Will Update as I get more info.

Is there actually a fix with a new rear window?

Installed my premium top today. One thing I thing they could have done better was to run the Velcro above the back side windows all the way down instead of just the little piece in the corner by the rear door. I swear I thought my JKā€™s were like that. It would keep the top back side flap nice and tight and make it look a lot better. I may look into seeing some across the top.

I think that would be a pain to deal with when taking the window out. The Velcro would be catching the whole way.
