Powertank and tire pressure

This feels like one of those questions where the "duh" answer will be immediate, and I'll feel stupid for a day or two.

But...how is it that the Powertank CO2 pressure is not measurable...ie you can't tell how much is left in the tank via pressure gauge.

However, the tire pressure (using the CO2) is indeed measurable.

Basically - how is it measurable in the tire but not the tank?

Wondering if it's just the difference of rubber tire vs steel tank, or ratio of CO2 to air in the tire vs the tank which is pure CO2.

CO2 in the tank is in both liquid and gas phases. The liquid phase evaporates and replace the gas phase as you use it. Pressure stays relatively constant until the liquid phase is gone. Then you run out quickly. To know how much you have weight it.
