Dip is awesome, I have done a bunch of things over the years, here are some pics of some old vette wheels I did, black base with a silver aluminizer, not Jeep wheels, but gives you an idea of what can be done.

What was the silver aluminizer that you used? Was it just silver spray paint or was it something else?

Sorry did you tape off the outer silver ring?

I have the upgraded polished lip Rubicon wheels - I was thinking of plastidip-ing those. Anyone try that?

Sorry it’s actually called metalizer, you can get it at amazon or some hardware stores. It’s just another form of plastidip so it peels right off whenever you want

I didn’t tape off the ring, I didn’t like how the wheel matched the car so that’s why I plastidiped the whole thing. You would have no issue doing the upgraded wheels, as you can see I just use notecards between the wheel and tire, and do lots of light coats.

Did you rattle can it or use a spayer, how many rattle cans does it take - if you used them.

I know I can plastidip my wheels, I was just wondering if anyone has pictures of the new wheels.

Yes just the cans, probably 3 black and 3 metalizer

The link above has a video link on the page showing how to do it. Seems simple enough. The wheels don’t need to be removed from the vehicle nor any taping required. I have no experience with this product or process.

I did this on my old car and i thought that It looked good from far away but then sloppy up close. I’m a perfectionist and my eyes would go to the spots where It wasn’t perfectly smooth. I suppose i just didn’t do it good enough but the smallest bubble or running in the dip would catch my eye and drive me insane .

Anyone considering Powder coat. Cons anyone? I have a quote for $75 per rim. I really like the rubicon base rims but in all black. Those are looking great!

I thought about powder coating my Sport rims but the cheapest quote I found around here was $650 and they'd have my Jeep for 3 days. No thanks. I've decided to just plasti dip them myself instead for 5% of that cost.
