If you split the rear fenders, you'll want to get rid of the rest of the plastic that attaches to the rear bumper. There's also a stamped steel bracket under the plastic filler panels that can be removed. It only supports the plastic pieces from flopping in the wind, but doesn't add any structure to the bumper itself.do you have a pic of the side of the rear ?
