I've seen people posting screenshots of averaging mpgs in the 24's, 25's and as high as 28mpg with ranges of 400-500+ ranges.

I've never seen or heard of such high numbers in a Jeep Wrangler.

I get 14-16mpgs on avg with a range of 280-315 avg.

I am lifted 2.5", 35" KO2's.

When it was stock I remember 330ish range with 16-18avg mpge and driving my new rig like a baby.

How are these folks getting such high numbers that Jeep cant even claim the Wrangler gets?

....do these number really exist or are people somehow fudging there claims?

Edit: I should probably qualify this. My typical average is 24 with an even mix of flat country roads and city driving. I just came back from a round trip to Mt Bachelor, which brought my average to 28, despite driving up a mountain pass for half the trip. I rarely go faster than 65, usually closer to 60 on these 55mph roads.

I'm happy with mine. I'll post a picture tomorrow. But a lot depends on how you drive and your terrain. I live in the middle of flat farm country in SW Ohio. The last time I filled up my tank, my range was 400 miles and I want to say I was at 23mpg. Now my JL is stock with the upgraded A/T tires and soft top.

Don’t have a pic atm, >20k on the odometer probably half and half highway and streets most of the time = 20-21mpg. Stock JLUR, few mods but none that impact mpg. Denver metro area so some up and down hills. When I wheel it i get closer to 13-14. It is my daily driver so in the real world I’m getting around 20 mpg. So far i am pretty damn surprised and happy with the mpg.

No screenshot yet. But in a '19 Sahara 2.0 w/ 35s I'm averaging 20. That's with me driving relaxed and at or slightly above the speed limit. Which I've been driving that way most of the time since I've been driving the jeep. If I drive it like I drive my car though, my mpgs will drop to 17-18.


Edit* to add some more info that people have mentioned, I also have a 3.5 inch lift. I have heavy aftermarket front and rear bumpers and rails. I use 93 octane. I live in a relatively flatter area of Maryland. I rarely do city driving. Mostly highway, main roads, and back roads. And like I mentioned before, I drive it calmly and enjoy the time in the jeep rather than speeding around like I normally would, so I keep the rpms down for the most part. And I have, I'm guessing here... 2300 miles. Screenshot coming soon.

“Sahara w 35s putting up 20”! Like i said its has some un-wrangler-like mpg, still kind of surprises me.

But how? How did you get 28mpg? How.
My argument is, if someone can actually achieve 28mpg avg, why won’t FCA market the JLs as such, what are you doing that nobody else are to get those numbers? Is this repeatable?
I’m really curious to see the math behind it.

Here’s where I am with mileage. I really want a rubicon. The price difference between a rubicon and Sahara is minimal. The Sahara is more practical for every day driving but I want to go on Jamborees and do some trips. The rubicon seems like a better option. When it comes to engines the 2.0 etorque is not only gone from the rubicon but on the Sahara they dropped the MPG estimates to match the non etorque. So it seems you no longer get any mpg benefit to etorque.

As far as the 3.6 to 2.0 the jump in price is 2k for the auto compared to the manual 3.6. Per the epa site it will mean I spend 1k more in gas over 5 years. So 10 years to make up the difference and I lose the fun of a manual.

I don’t see why I would get the 2.0

No screen shot, but bone stock Sahara and my lifetime average according to the Jeep is 10.6L/100km or just over 22mpg. This includes running trails, highway and city. I’ve gotten as low as 9.6L/100 (25mpg) on the highway to on a trip to Chicago. Might have been better, but that included heavy construction delays. A 2.5 hour drive took nearly 7. Top was also open for most of the drive too.

These threads have been done over and over and people rarely mention their lift, tires, mods, engine, and transmission.

Without that info your MPG means nothing.
No that's not true...we all understand(obviously) larger tires, lifts etc get you less mpgs.

Point here is trying to figure out how some people are getting such high avg mpgs and fuel ranges.
