Some of the Rubicon owners like myself may have the Falken Wildpeak M/T tires in LT285/70/17 as OEM tires and look to upsize them at some point. Because I am going to be moving to 35" tires sometime in 2021, I created a sheet to compare and contrast 50 of the more popular (and some not as popular) tire brands in LT315/70/17 and LT35x11/12.50R17 against the Falken's. The sheet is currently sorted by weight difference (highlighted in blue) between all tires using the Falken's as the base weight (highlighted in orange).

I have to admit I had a few surprises as I compiled the data--especially on weights and tread depth. When and where possible I have used the manufacturer's data versus tire store data to try and keep the data accurate and consistent. Strangely enough, I could not find the actual weights of Goodyear Duratrac tires. Bridgestone, Firestone, Hankook, and Pirelli also did not have the weights listed on the manufacturer's website (at least I could not find it) and thus those are not included.

The Kanati's are highlighted in green because that is the brand/model I will be installing.

Enjoy!

EDIT - I added extra tabs with different sort orders (Brand, Diameter, Price, Tread Depth, Snowflake Logo, Weight, and Weight Difference)

Team - I have expanded the sheets that I created and now have them for 35", 37", and 40". Since the Falken Wildpeak M/T in 285/70/17 is the OEM tire for many JL’s, I set that as the base to compare against. I have added most common and some not so common brands to be able to compare as many as possible. Enjoy!

35” -

37” -

40” -

That's what I've been after. Pretty sure they are Maxxis Trepadores. I want 35's but the 35's are different they don't look like these in the pic. I'm thinking these are 37's??? They are bad ass & expensive.
Very cool side walls.

Jeep JL 2-Door with factory wheels and Toyo Open Country R/T 35x12.5 R17. I plan on installing the 2" Mopar lift when it is available, but I don't have any rubbing as it sits. I love that the tires fit in the wheel well - especially with the white! I purchased the reinforcement and relocation brackets for the spare tire but I don't need them. PM me if you want to purchase them (all brand new in the box).

I'm planning on getting a JL and have been trying to figure out a good combo of wheel & tire. This is the best pic yet that shows that stock wheels fit a 35. I wonder if they would still fit if it's not on a Rubicon? Any ideas from anyone?

I put a set of 275/70r18s on my nonlifted 2dr 80th Edition a few weeks back. They look just right to me and don't rub. My guess is that 285s would probably do alright, as well. Anything larger might be problematic if you plan on enthusiastic off roading.

I'm using stock wheels and want a 35 in tire. Having trouble finding a 10-11 inch wide so it doesn't stick out past fender. 315/70/17 seems good, but it seems some can be 12 inches wide. Are sizes different for each manufacturer?

315 = 12.4" wide.

So what's around 11? Or how did you come up with that?
