Hi

Let’s see how many of us got the new steering box and what is the outcome.

I’m going at the dealer Monday morning to get the new steering box.

Thanks,
Daniel

I had mine done this morning.

For the short drive that I did coming back home, all I can say is WOW !

Here’s my comments on theTSB outcome:

o It feels tighter.
o It requires a bit more force to turn.
o I have about 1/2 inch of play when I wiggle the steering.
o It drives straight... I no longer need to use the skills that I acquired in the late 70’s to go straight... It stays between the white lines on his own !

Has far as my experience with my dealer (they know me very well and I have a very good relationship which them), I brought a copy of the TSB to see the service manager. He said that it was clear to him that if the customer complains about Wandering or Pulling, they had to perform the repair. He took the TSB number down, he said that he was sure that I did not have any error code and that he would order the parts and check the code when performing the TSB. I only had one appointment to replace the steering gear.

I’m happy, it drives like a new Wrangler . Thanks Jeep/FCA !

Good luck to all of you that have the steering issue...There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Here’s a copy of my receipt, sorry it’s in French as I’m from Quebec !

Whoa what? So some are saying no change or just 'slightly helped'?

I think some people are just voting even if they didn’t have the TSB done because we are all “complainers” and it “drives like a Jeep”. To be honest my 2020 with AE box drive acceptable but I want it tighter.

Been fighting with my steering since new. I actually think my AE box with latest software update drove better than this new box and wife agrees. Very disappointed.

Less tha 10k miles in Jeep and this was 3rd box. Trying to convince wife to trade off.

I voted 100% based off the AD steering box my 2018 had. Night and day difference.

If I compare it to the AE box my 2020 has it’s probably a 50% improvement. Happy nevertheless.

I have an AE, and after spending some time thinking about it I’ve concluded the following.
The combination of the small dead spot and too much power steering makes it difficult to feel or perceive feedback from the vehicle and the road. I’ve noticed then when I adjust left or right, then return to center, the jeep will still drift in the direction of where I steered. So there’s the issue with the dead spot being part of the problem. Then because there is too much power steering assist, when you attempt to over counter steer, you can’t feel it, you only see your vehicle change directions. It’d basically like driving with a video game controller.
My steering box is supposed to get swapped in a couple weeks so I’m hoping the improvement is still meaningful coming off the AD.

The new steering box is def a noticeable improvement over even the AE steering box.

Got mine done and the steering is very tight now. It’s not like my wife’s RAV4, but It went from about 2 inches of play and a hard Pull to the right, to Less than a half inch of play and can go hands off for at least few seconds on the freeway. I have 15k fairly hard miles (Moab twice and the rubicon trail) with mopar lift and 35” mud terrain tires on the vehicle and it’s all stock steering parts. I think a new panhard bar and I’ll be right where I want to be.
