Just found this!
Yeah those have obviously been out for over a year now and some dealers are still just sanding and repainting panels that require replacement. The overwhelming majority of people who have had their JL corrosion repaired multiple times had those repairs done prior to these updates repair procedures or by dealers who still don't do the repairs correctly

Question…I have corrosion on the two hinges on my right rear door…no corrosion on the door itself or elsewhere on the Jeep for that matter. I purchased for $60 two replacement hinges that have the titanium spacer. I have Mopar matching paint in a rattle can from a previous repair/touchup and purchased clear coat spray to top coat. I have sting gray paint color.

My plan is to prime and paint the new hinges off the vehicle and see if they turn out reasonably well. If so I will remove and replace each hinge separately.

From everything I’ve read on the forums the repair process seems difficult and onerous in terms of time, quality of repairs, and the approval process. I would like to avoid that mess if I can for something that does not seem especially difficult. My 5 year warranty will expire in April 2025.

Have the dealer submit the warranty claim, order new hinges, paint the hinges with real automotive paint and give them to you to install. The factory door hinge bolts are sealed on with paint and impossible to remove without damage, so I would also buy new door hinge bolts for them to paint along with the hinges. The new bolts can be installed to factory torque specs with no or minimal damage.

Consider doing this for all the hinges and bolts. That's what I did.

Since you are still under warranty, see about having the dealership fix the hinges, and have them provide the hinges. They should be using the updated ones, with the Zinc spacers. Save the ones you have for the hinges not affected.. See if they can do the other hinges when they do your repair, and pay a little extra, provide your hinges. Or, do the other hinges yourself, before they go bad.

Good idea on the hinge bolts….i was concerned about that specific issue. I still plan to visit with the dealership…just to know my options.

Just found this!
This Stellantis admission and conclusion:

"When sanding and prep is done you must use clean sanding pads and in a separate room
from ferrous metals, as cross contamination will lead to galvanic corrosion."

This looks to be the root cause for all the corrosion problems on panel seams, hoods, door panels etc. Cross contamination at some stage of the manufacturing process and build - maybe at priming the bare skin. But adding a shim below the hinge should help slow the direct galvanic contact between the steel pin and steel backing nut and the aluminum door. Which most often appears first. We had multiple hinges first. Then hood. Then bottom of door panels last.

Our 3x warranty corrosion repairs and replacements fortunately still look perfect in year 6. But am not very confident all will continue to stay 100% corrosion free. My guess is that the epoxy primer under and painted hinge under is helping with zero metal to metal contact in those repainted areas.

Only hint of any repairs is some rust on one Phillips head steel hinge pin from taking off the hinge breaking the OEM paint. Thankfully that is only cosmetic and very easy to make good.

Maybe one day Stellantis will correct this manufacturing problem. But looking at the huge number of vehicle models and expansive model years affected - doubt it. Even though this forum poll shows 60% affected - in the real mass population JLs on the road - it is probably much less.

Update to my update lol. None of the doors lined up correctly. Windshield had a whistle. I brought it back and they said it may be fixed by tomorrow.

Great suggestion…I’m going to pursue this approach. Did you do anything to treat the bare metal underneath the removed hinges?

I have a 21 Nacho, no bubbles that I have seen and I hand wash it only. I also park in the garage if that’s a factor.

I don't have any bare metal. My doors were warranty replaced and fully painted, but the hinges were not warranty replaced. I wanted new hinges and they agreed to paint the new hinges and bolts I provided. I do want to figure out some kind of seal between the hinges and the doors before I install the new hinges.
