Poll: Bubbles in Paint??

If I remember correctly, the prep work was contaminated. Fords continue to have a big problem with this. At least with the Explorers I have seen.

I would imagine this is due to the automation running the prep solution process. AI to the rescue again.

Mine is finally fixed. Dealer half assed it four times over a month and a half. Either the third party body shop was scamming them or the dealer was in on it too. They told me after the first time that it was fully repainted with new hinges and the paperwork said that too, but I know the scratches I put in the doors and they were still there. I was a pain in the ass pushing them each time till it got done well enough to replace all hinges and repaint the visible corrosion. They refused to repaint any panels with no visible bubbles. It will probably come back but it looks good for now. I had called three other dealers before and they all refused to touch it so I was stuck.

IMO there is an underlying problem with the panels, primer, and or paint. The bubbles show up on edges, surfaces, and hinges.

I agree. Mine was a hood edge bubble about the size of a pinky finger nail. Approximately 2 years or so ago. Dealer was great and had the body shop repair it. Unfortunately it came back same identical place within two months Stallantis authorized a new hood because of the corrosion. Hood arrived less than a month and was painted and new Rubicon graphics applied. They did a great job with the paint. actually better than factory. So far everything is fine now. This is covered by warranty.

If you are still in the zone I would inspect every square inch and if not offered new parts, demand it!

I put 25,000 miles on my first JLUR, a '21, and now have 25,000 miles on my second, a '22, with no bubbling on either.

Yes they are in Putnam. Bonnie is very knowledgeable about the corrosion issues and the proper repair procedures

A bit of a haul from my side of the state but worth the drive to get it done right. Will see if I can find any issues with the paint and reach out to Bonnie. Do they do a full repaint or a replace of parts? Thanks again.

They will not just sand and repaint a panel that needs to be replaced. Fairly certain they will repaint or blend paint to match too
