My wife drives a 2021 JLU 4xe High Altitude as her daily. We like to do some overlanding so these 20's gotta go. I am thinking about going to a 17" wheel with a full 33 or maybe 34" tire and putting a set of fox shocks on "no lift". Some buddy's think that I should do a small lift but I just don't feel like it is needed. It's her daily driver and we wil not be rock crawling. I really want to put a set of Milestar Patagonia MT'S and looking for help on online dealers with good pricing besides your average Discount Tire etc. Thanks for the feedback folks!

Here’s an alternative scenario that might be cheaper:

Get a set of 18-inch Sahara, 80th Anniversary or Gladiator Overland “takeoff” wheels and a set of 275/70R18 KO2s. The tires measure 33.2 inches tall by 10.8 inches wide, so you gain 1.1 inches in diameter and 1.2 inches in width.

You should be able to pick up a set of 18-inch takeoffs on Craigslist for $300 - $500.

You should then be able to resell your 20-inch wheels to Grand Cherokee owners, or to kooks who like the South Beach look, for the same amount, rendering your “new” wheels free!

I had that setup on my Sahara for a year. It got me everywhere...and back.

if looking for opinions- i’m not convinced the fox shocks are indicated. skip the lift as you may not even have the clearance. at most, you could try rubi takeoffs, then maybe different tires and enjoy some trails. you don’t need much to have fun.

I recommend 17s because the will give you more sidewall, which is all around better and safer for offroading. Allows you to air down a little more for a more comfortable ride as well. For a rig that is also a daily driver, most people steer away from an MT and go for a solid AT instead that will still perform very well off road, but drive much better on pavement, especially as they wear.

I can't believe nobody's just told him to get some Rubicon takeoffs yet but here we are.

Takeoffs would work just great. Personally I'm not a fan of used, so my first thought usually doesn't go the takeoff route.

Most of the Tacoma guys that I know of who overland, they run 32s. So you should be fine with 32s at minimum.

Realistically the biggest thing you need to do is get rid of that dang 4XE.

Rubicon take offs, or Willys, I've always went with the Rubicon.

Simple bolt on.
Never heard anyone refer to it as a Willys take off. Willys have Rubicon suspension, so it would still be a Rubicon take off. 🤨

Every JL from Sport to Rubi XR are many times more capable than every stock 4wd’s and a 95% of modded ones.
Get some take-offs like suggested and have fun. It’s ready to go as-is.

The Willys takeoff wheels.
Honestly Facebook marketplace is the best place to get any sort of that. Lightly used tires and wheels together a lot of times they have the TPMS still in them. I'm talking like 3,000 miles on the tires, $1300 dollars for all four, and you get the wheels thrown in for free at that price!

The other option is you can get Rough Country steelies in three different colors (black, gray, bronze) 17x9 for under $100 each. I believe it's like $89 each. :like:
